EU+US Weko's F2P Rsham Guide

This is a quick guide for F2P resto shamans. This guide will only include items obtainable by F2P players, including heirlooms. However, heirlooms obtainable through the Darkmoon Faire are included.

(A) indicates Alliance only
(H) indicates Horde only
(E) indicates epic upgrade
{L} indicates leather item
{C} indicates cloth item
* indicates farmable epic BoE
SET indicates item is part of a set
RD indicates rare drop or low drop chance
WD indicates world drop and can be dropped by a large number of enemies

Races:
(A) Kul'Tiran is the overall strongest, due to https://www.wowhead.com/spell=291628/brush-it-off’s strength in PvP and PvE. If you're interested in raw numbers, Dwarves are the best choice because of their increased critical strike bonus.

(H) Orcs are great for PvP due to their reduced stun durations through https://www.wowhead.com/spell=20573/hardiness and their https://www.wowhead.com/spell=20572/blood-fury. Goblins make a good choice too for their rocket jump and out-of-combat utility. If you're interested in raw numbers, Taurens are the best choice because of their increased critical strike bonus.

Talents:
Torrent increases the initial heal from Riptide by 30%. This can be used if you don’t want another spell on your bar but you really should use Unleash Life.

Undulation is only useful in very rare circumstances and even then both Torrent and Unleash Life probably come out to be better.

Unleash Life buffs your next heal by 35% along with a decent direct heal. With it being on a short cooldown (15 seconds), it is by far the best talent right now.

[June 22 2019] - Updated holiday event epics to correct stats and ilvl. Updated BiS list and re-formatted for readability. Updated Resto set with farmable BoEs. Added Enhancement and Elemental sets under notable gear lists (these will probably need to be updated as I start farming and gathering more information). Fixed some more wrong stats/typos.
[September 22 2019] - Updated lists with new-found items. Also moved trinkets around to accurately reflect that Brewfest trinket passives now require level 60 to proc.
[May 11 2020] - Updated BiS and notable gear lists with new items.
[August 31 2020] - Another update to BiS list and some formatting changes.

I always love looking at these guides and seeing other peoples opinions on gearing different classes. I would argue (or at least present as an alternative) Int>Haste>Vers>Stam>Crit as the stat priority, at least within the margins of the commonly available f2p gear. In my experience, haste is so good for healers to be able to react and get their heals out faster. Practically it's not too different from your stat priority because most things give a standard stat template with 2 secondaries and you're gonna want haste and vers. With regards to stamina, obviously you don't want to go glass cannon as a healer, but as f2p you don't even really have that many places where dropping stamina for other stats is even an option, and I do think taking advantage of things like the krom'gar 8 int bracers is a worthwhile consideration.

Hey I really appreciate this! As you said, I’m not too sure what you could swap out. Aurora gear could give +3 haste, +2 vers and some dungeon gear has more haste. Might be worth checking out. I’m not sure how much it would impact your CDs.

I added the +8 int bracers. IMO it’s not worth losing the stam and secondary stats but it would definitely be better for a glass cannon build. Thank you!

Given the necessity of slitherscale, most of an rshams gear "customization" will come from jewelry, where I'd like to make this argument: int is only a priority to a point. Rshams can pretty casually toss out 900-1k crit heals at about 190 int. More int isn't really going to improve your healing numbers at that point, as you'll likely end up doing a ton of overhealing.

Maybe forgoing int in rings/neck to stack secondaries (esp if holiday epics are ilvl32 this year) makes sense.

Of the Impatient ideally or as much haste as you can get on the Aurora.

Also I think you should note that a 1H + Shield is really recommended over a staff, having a shield makes gives like 10% damage reduction worth of armor by itself.

Unrelated, but is https://www.wowhead.com/item=131456/cowl-of-solace really ilvl 29? I mostly play horde these days and didn't know anything like that existed for alliance.

These are all great additions. I'll definitely add the gear in the notable gear list in case someone would like to stack haste. I'm also thinking about making a BiS list for crit > haste, but we'll see.

As for https://www.wowhead.com/item=131456/cowl-of-solace, it is the Alliance equivalent of the Krom'gar helmet.

I had a similar reaction. I presume that's what it was before quest-scaling was implemented, and he meant to use the lvl-20 version with a random Epic Upgrade:

Yes, thank you for this! It was a mistake on my part just going through items too quickly. It has been fixed and both item sets have been adjusted!

Thanks Weko, Kadrak, and y'all commenters for the contributions.

I know BiS depends upon stat prioritization and weighting, but even by your own prios, your BiS is off. Adaptable Wrists/Ring/Hammer would be BiS/notable. I also think it is worth noting which 3/2 is preferred by your prios, and that 2/2 can drop. I have seen a 1/4 Hammer, link: EDIT.

You should state how you're weighing stats, especially in order to conclude the Headdress > Worgen Hunter's Helm. It has been my experience that the most threatening classes to a decently positioned Shaman deal phys dmg, and I don't see how you're weighing armor, or under what conditions you value Stam, given that a lower Stam build would seem to me to value Haste > Vers and play farther back (suboptimally, imo, as Vers stacking makes a nice dmg soak + considering the range of Shear).

I think the trinkets section could use some discussion; for instance, 5 Vers vs +5% health on the CD.

I also think Engineering deserves mention for several reasons: 1) the Grenades for somewhat reliable CC, 2) the Dynamite, including EZ-Thro, for denying caps in AB (and threatening stealthies elsewhere), 3) the low profession level requirement (1-30) for these, their materials, and Swiftthistle, and 4) the ease with which Alch + Engi can be maintained. PS, Strong Anti-Venom.
