Weapon Decisions

I have a paladin and shaman on the way up and I'd like to have a ret/enh set for them. I'm kind of stuck about weapons. I already own a BAR, but consistently farm for a PoD. From what I understand, PoD is above all other options for both classes. My question is, how far? Is it worth the time and/or expense of a PoD (of which I'd ideally need two eventually) or is the BAR an acceptable alternative? Thanks.

BAR until the PoD drops, but quite frankly, I haven't heard of a PoD dropping in a loooooooooooooooooooooong time.

Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.

Sorry, just recalling some conversations I've had with shaman guildies recently (I'm gearing a shammy too).

I've heard the SoJ hits harder with WF procs than a BAR for Enh, and still lends to casting abilities.

I'll forward the link to this thread for them to come over and lend their knowledge.

SoJ with Mongoose is a very good option,

and if I remember the threads about it correctly, frees up

2 points in Flurry, as taking 5/5 can give you swings which will

just overlap the ending of the ICD of Windfury..

Resulting in having to wait for the swing timer while

hitting slightly after would mean a swing capable of proccing WF,

The 4.0 speed of the PoD makes 'full' use of 5/5 flurry,

where taking over 3/5 with the 3.7 speed SoJ may result in less dps.

Never had a 39 enhance but this is what I read before,

care to correct me if I'm wrong.

But as said, SoJ is nice, and int > AP and the spellpower are

decent for dps stats.

Mongoose is a terrible enchant for shams at this level just like crusader, we have nothing but auto-attack to proc them.

And I think 5/5 toughness is far, far more valuable than the dps increase from flurry, but then again that is just my opinion.

Good advice here

BAR is the best weapon for ret paladins because of the spell/melee crit.

I was always told the PoD was better for uber crits, but I don't have a Pod on my new ret twink, and the BAR + Crusader is working wonders, imo.

pod used to be the best when fiery and weapon procs would proc SoC and vice versa

PoD > BaR for Pallies. Sinply because Savagery is better than Crusader.

For warriors, Cru is a decent alternative, since thier burst isn't as front-loaded. I wouldnt bother getting a PoD for my warr if I had a pally that needed one.

I've been told as much, but since I'll never see a PoD within my grasp, the BAR will have to do.

lets state an uptime for cru of 30%.

30% of 100 str -> 30 str (+heal more than one ppm)

13 str + 30 str = 43 str * kings = 47,3 str = 94,6 AP

already high burst, that is increased by a proc + heal + 19 stam (20,9 with kings) + 1,56% crit (on everything you do including selfheal)

constant AP: 70 <-> 26 (28,6)

proc: 300dmg <-> 100heal and str

constant stam: 0 <-> 19

increased overall crit: 0 <-> 1,56%

hits for (just AP...600AP,556AP/756AP): 325,43 <-> 294,91/349,2

ok, PoD >>>>>>>>>>nothing>>>>>>>>>>bullova>>>>>>>>>>BAR
