Viable classes

Hello, I've been thinking about making a 39, but was wonderig which classes would be viable. I was thinking about making a rogue but A friend of mine told me that they are close to impossible to gear BiS, due to Gf'd stuff etc. And I kinda want to gear my twinks fully. So I have considered some other classes, please give me your input on the viability of the classes and the gearing options. (I dont mind spending hours and hours of farming, nor $$ for faction change, but I would love to not have to spend 100's of dollars on GF'd gear)

What I have considered:
ret / hpally
Fire mage
warlock
fury/arms warrior

With the stat scaling it's hard to really pin point what's BIS at the moment.
There's not much grandfathered stuff out there to be honest which is a clear-cut better option than the rest
There's no real class that's gimped. People are going to tell you to make a healer on alliance or a FC on alliance side, but overall choose something you're interested in playing

Gf doesn't matter. With scaling, likely every class is missing something desirable. But nothing is absolutely critical.

Healers are going to be the biggest asset this revival. If you can play one, you will be loved long time.
