You're probably thinking, yeah, as if Blizzard would ever implement this. And you're right, they won't. But don't hit that back button yet! We can make our own unofficial rated arena system for twinks. Allow me to introduce you to http://www.clanwars.cc
Clanwars.cc hosts unofficial leagues for all sorts of games, like Red Alert 3, Halo, Call of Duty, Zero Hour... They also sponsor popular leagues with prizes, at the end of a 'season' the top 3 gets price money, free games etc, imagine that, you could earn money by playing your twink But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
I talked to an admin there and asked him if they'd be intrested to host a WoW twink league, and he told me they're up for it if we can prove there's enough intrest for it. This topic is the first step to check that.
You're probably wondering how this system would work, so just to give you an idea:
There will be four WoW 2v2 leagues. EU 19, US 19, EU 39 and US 39. I know we're missing some brackets here, but in order to start we'll need to target the most popular brackets first.
Now comes the biggest challenge: battlegroups. Twinks are spread over different battlegroups and as we all know there's no such thing as cross battlegroup bg's yet. In order to overcome this we'll have to pick one battlegroup to focus on in each bracket. We'll pick the battlegroups that already have the most active community for each bracket. For example: EU 19 - Cyclone, EU39 - Rampage, US 19 - Bloodlust, US 39 - Vindication (these are just examples).
If you're active on another BG you can always transfer your twink to the chosen BG, I'm sure most of us would do this if it has an active league going with prize money
Ok, so we got our leagues up and running, how does this clanwars.cc stuff work?
You can create an account on the site, it doesn't have to be your ingame name. You can then create multiple subaccounts for all your twinks, these subaccounts will use your ingame name. On that subaccount you can create your own 2v2 team, give it a fancy name and a tag and you can invite 3 other players in your 2v2 team, just like in WoW arena.
You can gain rating by beating other teams registered on the site and the rating you gain is relative to the other team's current rating, just like in WoW, beating a team with a much higher rating than yours will grant you more points than a team ranked lower than you.
Now, how exactly does the site know you won a game? Simple. The losing team has to report which team they lost too. The losing team has one hour to do so, if they don't, the winning team can upload a screenshot showing they beat the losing team stating that the losers didn't report the match. An admin will then check the evidence and grant the winning team their points and he'll penalize the losing team for not reporting. Teams that continually refuse to report will get banned from the league.
Alright, that should give you a basic idea of how it would work. I'm 200% certain that with enough intrest, we can get this up and running in no time. So go ahead and post your questions, suggestions and idea's!
