Turning off XP vs F2P

Hello there, first time poster on these forums! I have recently gained a huge interest in a lvl 20 twink Hunter, and once my sub runs out I am going to remain a F2P player (Hunter is already lvl 20 with some decent gear). My question is, can I begin questing, BGs, etc with XP turned off prior to my sub running out AND be in the "same bucket" as the players who are currently F2P (same BG queue for example)... if any of that makes sense?
