thoughts on using oil over flame for resto shamans?

For me at least it costs about 50-70g per oil but seems worth it since I get +6 intellect and some crit from it. Thoughts on using this over flametongue since flame only gives some extra fire damage unless im understanding it wrong? Just seems a bit smarter since it also increases chain damage as well as lightning bolt

Flametongue Weapon and Primal Strike are both enh abilities that only show up for other specs because Blizzard wanted melee shamans to have some early tools instead of having to wait until 10th level. They're only baseline for the class because they show up before 10th, and frankly I'm not sure if flametongue even applies the extra damage to spell attacks. Neither is really worth keeping on your bars.

You're free to (and encouraged) to test DPS on a target dummy to see what options are better or worse. I'd be very surprised if flametongue came out ahead in this case.
