Sin's "The Leveling Twink" Guide [Hunter][Alliance]

<script src="http://static.wowhead.com/widgets/power.js"></script>

If you are like me, you enjoy pvp and leveling alts. If you are even more like me, you play a lot of WoW, are somewhat of a perfectionist, and in a decent guild with people who are on often and are willing to lend you a hand.

I don't know if this particular idea has been brought to light already, but here it is anyways: The Leveling Twink. I could argue that to some degree these exist already. Anybody who levels an alt with enchanted BoA gear is already a good step towards a "leveling twink." My leveling twink is a bit more then that though. The sole purpose of a true leveling twink is to level a character while maintaining almost the best gear possible at every level, in order to greatly increase the enjoyment I get both from leveling and from pvp in the pre-70 brackets. I do not plan to go any farther then 70 with my leveling twink; his only purpose is to provide the experience of level and pvping with crazy gear, which I find a lot of fun. You get to destroy everything during questing. I often tried to see just how many mobs I could take at once, trying to utilize every tool I had. In pvp you are a force to be reckoned with, and you get to experience every bracket.

Why hunter? Because that was one of the few classes I hadn't tried yet, and I know from experience they are pretty op in the lower brackets. I was originally going with mage, but when a couple of my friends saw what I was doing and wanted to join, I decided we would all make hunters.

Before we get started, if you don't have the following things, you will probably have a rough time making and enjoying a perfect leveling twink:

- A good chunk of money (2-3k ish minimum)

You need a ton of crap for this. All kinds of mats. Even if you can grind most of it like I did, you will need money to buy the stuff you can't farm, or don't want to farm.

- Friends with high level characters who will help you

You will need some stuff from dungeons / quests, and you'll be too low to get it yourself, so you'll need some people that can run you through stuff.

- Have, or know someone who has a high level Leatherworker, Skinner, Jewelcrafter, Enchanter, and Miner (Tailor and an Alchemist are nice to have)

This will become obvious as you get deeper into the guide.

- A lot of spare Badges/Champion Seals, or the willingness to farm randoms and/or dailies.

For the heirloom items.

- Patience

You won't have everything ready overnight. Mine took about two weeks before I even started playing it.

- Enthusiasm for leveling and pvp.

Duh.

The first thing I did was make my level 1 guy and escort him with the help of a buddy to the gurabashi arena in stranglethorn, picking up all the flightpaths along the way. I was level 3 by the time I got there just through exploration experience. Why? For the Arena Grand Master. (If you are a twink and don't know what this is, shame on you.) I logged on every time I could for the event, and in about 3 weeks I had this trinket. At level 3. This is a lot of effort to go through, but like I said earlier, I'm kind of a perfectionist. Depending on what server you're on, this may be really easy or really hard to get. I was on a server that didn't have a twink population, so I got it pretty much every time. If you have a twink guild on your server, chances are you're going to have to fight for this, or try for it really late at night.

Next you'll want to do is figure out how much of this you can and are willing to farm yourself, or can get someone to farm for you, and how much you'll need to get off the AH. Make a list of all the stuff you think you'll end up buying, and check the AH every time you get on for decently priced mats that you need. I did this the same time I was getting my arena trinket, so by the time I had my trinket, I had all my mats as well.

While getting your mats, you should also be doing two things:

1 - Farm the Emblem of Valor / Champion's Seal you need for your heirloom items. You'll need a total of 225 Badges / 335 Champion Seals

2 - Farm Stone Keeper's Shard / Wintergrasp Mark of Honor.

A fair amount of leveling twink gear is pvp gear bought with honor. Thus, you'll need a lot of Wintergrasp Commendation. If my math is right, you'll need 17605 honor = 9x Wintergrasp Commendation = 270 Stone Keeper's Shard / 81 Wintergrasp Mark of Honor

After that, me and my buddies would follow this formula: Level to *6, pvp till *0, meaning level to 16,26,36,46,etc and then pvp till 20,30,40,50,etc, maxing out engi every time we could. 6 Levels of questing, 4 levels of pvp. The reasoning behind this is that

a) You get the next level of food/water at 15,25,35 and so on. BGing with the crappy food and water sucks.

b) The random dungeon gear is split up like this: 15-25,26-35,36-45,46-55 (Satchel of Helpful Goods) and so on. So, at level 25, if you do a random, in the satchel you get for finishing the dungeon will be either a cloak or a belt. At 26, it will be either a necklace or gloves. Thus, we level to 26,36,46 so we can get our next set of dungeon gear before we hit the bgs. We would turn off our exp when we farmed dungeons.

c) It's nice to be a decent level in bgs, because otherwise people who are a significantly higher level then you can easily resist your spells (or you just miss, I'm not sure), and I think have less of a chance of being hit by you, which is lame.

After you've got all your crap together (or you can just get the mats as you need them), just follow the formula we did and enjoy. You can leave out leveling engi if you want, but you miss out on a lot of toys, and some pretty nice gear. I also kept my first aid up, and leved herbalism as well because Lifeblood is awesome.

The rest of the guide is mat lists and the gear/enchant list, along with some other random crap, and a notes section at the end. If you see a [NOTE #] next to something, it means that something needs further explanation, but I didn't want to clutter my guide by having my little explanations all over the place, so I have them at the end.

--- Leveling up First Aid - Mats ---

170 Linen Cloth

180 Wool Cloth

150 Silk Cloth

110 Mageweave Cloth

80 Runecloth

115 Netherweave Cloth

80 Frostweave Cloth

You can level up First Aid to the max, and be able to use even higher bandages then you can make. You just need to have first aid trained up on another character who can make the bandages for you. You can go up to 225 at level 1, which lets you use Heavy Runecloth Bandages, and at 35 you can go up to 400 and can use Heavy Frostweave Bandage.

--- Heirloom Replacements ---

The following gear is meant to replace your heirloom items. Because they have sockets, and you can put level 80 epic gems in those sockets, and you can enchant them with level 80 enchants, they are much better then your heirloom items.

Chest

[Laughing Skull Battle-Harness] - The Black Morass - Zone - World of Warcraft @ 68

[Enchant Chest - Super Health]

Reagents:

Infinite Dust (20), Greater Cosmic Essence (4)

Shoulder

[Mantle of Perenolde] - Old Hillsbrad Foothills @ 66

Weapon

[Crow Wing Reaper] - Sethekk Halls - Zone - World of Warcraft @ 68

[Enchant 2H Weapon - Massacre]

Reagents:

Infinite Dust (40), Greater Cosmic Essence (6), Abyss Crystal (6)

---------------------------------------------

--- Glyphs/Pets/Specs ---

I'm going to leave these three things up to you. Choose whatever tickles you.

If you want some advice, hit up Armory Data Mining

Click the hunter tab, scroll down to twinks, and pick whichever bracket you're in at the moment. You can find what most hunter twinks have for just about everything, including glyph, pet, and spec choices.

---------------------------------------------

[NOTE 1]:

This enchant comes from the quest Signets of the Zandalar - Quest - World of Warcraft

Note that you need exalted with the Zandalar Tribe, which is quite an undertaking if you don't have it already.

[NOTE 2]:

To buy this enchant you need to be exaulted with the Aldor. If you have a character exaulted with Scyer I'm sure they have a similar enchant. You need 8 [Holy Dust] to buy one, which come from turning in [Fel Armament] which you can farm, which is a pain, or you can keep an eye out for them on the AH.

[NOTE 3]:

Pattern sold by Mazk Snipeshot - NPC - World of Warcraft

[NOTE 4]:

Pattern sold by Knaz Blunderflame - NPC - World of Warcraft

[NOTE 5]:

The Sniper Scope is a random world drop pattern. Keep an eye out for it on the AH, or spam in trade and hope to find someone that has it.

[NOTE 6]:

The Khorium Scope is a BoP pattern, so you'll have to find an engi that can make you one.

[NOTE 7]:

The Stabilized Eternium Scope is a BoP pattern, so you'll have to find an engi that can make you one.

[NOTE 8]:

Aside from the gear Goblin Engineering provides, there are some other fun things as well, like [The Big One] and [The Bigger One]

[NOTE 9]:

Falcon's Call is an enchant from Zul Gurub. You'll have to get your hunter to friendly with them, and get him a [Primal Hakkari Idol] (BoP drop off 2 different bosses) and a [Punctured Voodoo Doll] which are BoE and are looted from little piles of skulls throughout ZG. I just had my main run around and find one, as I didn't have to kill much, and there's a chance you will be MC'd when you loot it for like 10 seconds, so having someone else with you means you might end up killing them.

[NOTE 10]:

The Paracute Cloak is nice because you can use it with Disengage. Not only that, but you can put the level 35 enchants on it. Only problem is the pattern is a BoE world drop, so you'll probably have to find someone who can make it, or get lucky and find on the the AH.

[NOTE 11]:

These come from a pattern that you need Friendly with the Zandalar Tribe to buy, and the Primal Bat Leather you need to make them takes so long to farm because the drop rate is horrible, you might as well find something else.

[NOTE 12]:

Pattern sold by Rikqiz - NPC - World of Warcraft

[NOTE 13]:

This pattern can only be obtained by an Elemental Leatherworker, but the gloves are BoE, so just find one who can make them for you.

[NOTE 14]:

Pattern sold by Nergal - NPC - World of Warcraft

[NOTE 15]:

Pattern sold by Rikqiz - NPC - World of Warcraft

[NOTE 16]:

This belt can only be made my gnomish engineers.

[NOTE 17]:

To buy the pattern for this belt you need to have Honored with Timbermaw Hold. This rep isn't hard to get, so find a LW that has it already or is willing to farm it for you.

[NOTE 18]:

To buy the pattern for this belt you need to have Honored with Honor Hold. Shouldn't be too hard to find a LW with this.

[NOTE 19]:

These are made by gnomish engineers. You'll have to grab a tailor to make the mageweave boots too.

[NOTE 20]:

These are a BoP pattern off some boss is Steamvaults I think. If you have an engineer, you can go farm it on heroic, I hear the drop rate isn't too bad. Or just find an engi who can make them for you.

[NOTE 21]:

To buy this pattern you need Honored with The Consortium. Kind of a pain to get, but you can probably find a LW who can make these.

[NOTE 22]:

To buy the pattern for this belt you need to have Friendly with Timbermaw Hold. Agian, this rep isn't hard to get. Find a LW that has it already or is willing to farm it for you.

[NOTE 23]:

Pattern sold by Gnaz Blunderflame - NPC - World of Warcraft

[NOTE 24]:

Pattern sold by Ruppo Zipcoil - NPC - World of Warcraft

[NOTE 25]:

This is a pain in the ass to get the mats and the pattern, but it's pretty awesome. I hear you can reflect Psychic Screams. The pattern randomly drops off Crimson Inquisitor - NPC - World of Warcraft in Strat. Took me 5 runs to get one to drop.

[NOTE 26]:

This pattern is sold by a vendor you can only get to by using [Wormhole Generator: Northrend] which takes you to random places in northrend, one being the place with this vendor. Hopefully you can find an engi who can make this.

=O I be speecless =(
