Shadowfang in MoP

Jôlinar

Legend
I heard from a couple people that Shadowfang will be extremely nerfed in MoP and will not be BiS for rogues anymore. Hopefully that is not true because I'm still seeking my last one. And the future of 19 twinks in MoP?

Obviously there's no proof to that.

Well when people tell you things like that you should always ask where they read that, not just go with it.

Perhaps more important than any potential SF nerf is the probability that rogues in general will be nerfed to the ground. It's not news to anyone, but to recap...

Removed from level 19: Sprint, Gouge, Shadowstep, Backstab

So unless the outlook for 19 rogues changes drastically between now and launch, a nerfed SF would be the LEAST of a rogue's problems...

Cause it's not like warriors didnt lose Demo Shout, Battle Shout, Shield Block, Revenge, Disarm, Bloodrage, Hamstring, Overpower, Mocking Blow. or anything like that. Nah.. Walk it off and keep playing

That sounds terrible. Is that legit? 19 rogues aren't going to have much to use at all. I feel like I'm almost wasting my time rolling a 19 rogue right now.

Well. Rogues will finally become a skill class (which should hopefully fix the current rogue problem) and they will still be useful for their sap CC and other burst placement utilities, which means they will still be used in premades.

A rogue should play like that now anyway. I know too many downie mid farming rogues.

Rogues will still be viable despite the changes that are occurring in MOP. For example, saps, kicks, flag ninjas, etc.

Well...No actually.

What you're describing was essentially the state of rogues prior to the release of Cataclysm. Except then we still had sprint (3 min CD), gouge, and backstab. At this point in time, no one used rogues in premades precisely because they had very low ToT. If someone got a half-step on you, you essentially could be kited easily by any class with ease.

No ToT, little to no usefulness in premades. Double ambush, if it will even turn out to work well, will not be nearly enough to make up for this.

And IMO the current rogue "problem" pails in comparison to the current hunter, priest, and paladin problems.

Ummm no? We still have stealth speed in MoP, which we didn't have prior to cata. Which means sap CC'ing and burst will still be there (even though not as much).

on mmo-champion there is this comment:

"Deadmines and Shadowfang are similar but there was less freedom to upgrade the art or change the layout"

so it appears some changes are coming again in low level dungeons? how will this affect shadowfang sword drops:
- remove it for ever?
- maybe drop more?
- maybe changed?

ask curley....he knows

or will this only affect the 85 version or are they converting it to 90 content?

they didn't clarify

doubt it, cata brought the rogue back with SS and AMB with all weapons. in WotLK even WT did not roll rogues in their premades, pizza more or less said on this forum they were a liability more than a asset.

enh-shams/warriors replaced rogues in WotLK, which cata killed the enh-sham and removed key glyph abilites from warriors

now with the abilities mages/hunters have at 19 and will still have in MOP, rogues need sprint/SS/gouge. also needed on warlocks/priests is gouge and sprint. there is no skill gonna save you it cata when you are feared and even on a trinket which is not instant like it used to be, get back on them before you are killed

level 10 talents are trash for a rogue in 19, 24, 29 twinks.....rogue will still be subpar at 39 without SS considering what other classes are keeping. and at 64, 70 and 80+ the choice between SS or prep....no other classes are receiving a choice nerf that huge
