Is there any way a pure F2P can get these or any of the recolors?

I haven’t been able to join a covenant to my knowledge even though I did all the quests in SL.

Last I checked (which was a while ago), there was a level gate to join covenants - maybe level 60? So I think you're out of luck, unfortunately.

It was talked about (I haven’t done it though) that if you do all the SL skips on a character, it unlocks basic covenants and world quests as well. Unfortunately, characters which were created before the skips were implemented (like mine) or who chose not to skip are stuck without covenants.

To say the game code is a confusing mess would be an understatement.

There are at least two versions of Shadowlands as Dev mentioned:

• One is a F2P/Vet can do the campaign up to the last quest area prior to selecting a Covenant, which locks your character if campaign is flagged done prior to a TWW update.
• The other version is you start the campaign but do not complete because are now offered a Covenant choice to skip the campaign. This unlocks a Covenant "kind of".

For F2P/Vet level <= 20 you can get a weekly quest via the Oribios brokers under the Inn, if in the Shadowlands Chromie time to que for Shadowlands dungeons for those weekly Covenant quest which give reputation and anima items for depositing in Covenant reserves. Also you may get renown with your Covenant which technically unlocks some Covenant features requiring a higher level to use or items but most are not free.

There is some region quest and depending on a F2P or Vet there are some World Quests for reputation and anima, BUT to use most of the items from the quartermaster or to do Covenant building requires at this time level 60 to use.

For the "Selfless Wings of the Ascended" it requires being level 60 to get the item per se. Yet some items do not appear to have any restrictions besides anima or gold or grateful tokens.

I have not found anything fun or game breaking , yet. Including these covenant transmogs

Yeah that had to be a recent change because late last year I tried jumping into the Maw from Oribos and it brought be back to Oribos.

But so far not able to get into the Maw or Korthia as a level 20 (skipper).

When I jump into the Maw from Oribos, I only appear in Torghast which is newer to me and I can do some of the solo dungeons there, but when I try to leave I get teleported back to Oribos.

So I must be missing some trick?

The mobs in the maw actually scaled. I’d say about 50% of the mobs were scaled correctly, of course nothing in Korthia scaled as it is a lv 50 or 60 zone. There was another endgame zone for SL that I haven’t tried yet.

I’d love to discover a way to unlock any of the covenant transmogs or find usable quest rewards from covenant completion quests or world quests

They use to work if in your inventory, like one of the toy said required like level 48 to use, but was active by level 20 to add to toy box but not to re-use. They need to allow this on transmorg items.

Like you should be able to learn if you sell it like the junk/white/green/blue Warbound items or if disenchanted, can be learned regard of class restrictions etc. Also for Link Vets the warband repuation is still broken as in perks on the account are not yet truly account wide but Blizzard is making progress as some titles that were locked out are now available account wide, granted marks the character as a Linked Vet than a true F2P

I did get a Blizzard survey this morning about TWW Season 2 and Season 3, and I basically said in comments that I rather play F2P or Linked Vet then get game time to play Season 3 as most of the current content is the same basic thing for gear to get to the next level of content yet 90% pf the previous content is locked out due to no one with a subscription wants to join up to do older content unless its the Timewalk or Event week and even depending on the realm/server the queues are long.

So this impacts F2P or linked vets as some of the old content requires getting into Ashran or a dungeon that has no follower or besides Discord no support by Blizzard. Or the Garrison Quests that require level 40+ when the quest is avaiable on level 20, Lumber Mill final quest chain as example.

I also mentioned that Blizzard needs to figure a way for old school content to be more available to questing people versus taking a high level character through it like butter. Like their Story Mode Raiding in Undermine aka solo Raid or delves or Troghast or Follower dungeons, aka make that for the older battlegrounds or raids or dungeons (non-Mythic) or change them and the items from older content to be more accessible.

So if we're doing a quest on a F2P character and we complete it with another a high level, we still can't get it covenant at f2p?"

It seems to be character by character, but if on a linked Vet aka your high level for example completed the Shadowslands campaign that doesn't seem top effect the F2P character.

But where is gets more interesting is that if that High level completed the Dragonflight Campaign to a certain point, than this will unlock the main Dragon Isles campaigns and world quests for the linked Starter/F2P characters but not the quests in some of the high level areas.

With the Dragonflight campaign as baseline on the non-linked Starter/F2P Account one can create a Evoker and do the first two campaign areas but the remaining two are higher level locked.

What will be interesting is when or if first part The War Within becomes the baseline, then if there is also a campaign unlock then Earthen characters become available. An interesting side effect of a Linked Vet with WTH, is that the Earthen <= 20 can use the portal to/from Dornogal in their faction city as well as the portal to/from Azj-Kahet, but locked out of the The Ringing Deeps to/from Isle of Dorn elevator or Undermine portal (for now).
