Santa is moving to Russia? My apple killed itself.

December 21, 2012 is known to be the day that the mayans and aztecs calculated to be the last calendar day. Alot of people think this is will be the end of the world.

I happen to think it is the end of a math problem. The "true magnetic north pole" has been moving for years now. Scientist think that the earth once shifted its' poles 780,000 years ago. Can it be that the world is due for this to happen again. Not only is the north pole moving, it is speeding up. At first the scientist picked a place that it would be in 2050. It reached that point by 2004. As we make this shift the polar ice caps will go through a period of melting. Some say this is caused by greenhouse gases, ummm no. Feel free to look up this info on the web. It is all there for you. Get both sides and form your own thoughts. I have posted below some facts on how time is linked to the rotation of the earth to support my thoughts on this matter.

TIME IN ONE DAY

The sidereal rotation period (generally considered the "true" rotation period) of Earth is 23 hours, 56 minutes, and about 4.1 seconds

LEAP SECONDS

To keep the civil day aligned with the apparent movement of the Sun, positive or negative leap seconds may be inserted.

A civil clock day is typically 86,400 SI seconds long, but will be 86,401 s or 86,399 s long in the event of a leap second.

Leap seconds are announced in advance by the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service which measures the Earth's rotation and determines whether a leap second is necessary. Leap seconds occur only at the end of a UTC month, and have only ever been inserted at the end of June 30 or December 31.

I would not worry about this to much anyway. Monsanto ( a chemical company) is trying to patent a "Terminator Crop". This will be backed by the government to control your food supply. The FDA will approve it and tell us it is the only way to make sure we know where our food comes from. The seeds they make will terminate after one harvest and NO seeds will come from the plant. If you are thinking, hmmm I will just grow my own stuff and get the seeds from that. Nah, they covered that base, when you plant the terminator seed it can mix with seed bearing plants and kill their seeds too.

Bad news if it ever backfires. We will have nothing.

Sure I like to stimulate the mind with adverse and positive reactions. I look forward to comments of all kinds since this is the tavern.;)

If the Mayan civilization hadn't ended they would have made more calenders.

The schedule where I work is made out 2 weeks in advance. If the business goes belly up today, the world would end Sunday after next?

Oh, I see what you mean. Maybe they stopped mid-stream and were wiped out. I like that theory as well. Thanks Wingman.

I wonder if they were making the calendars that far in advance to sell for later?

You forgot Vanga.

Global warming is a lie, if you want me to go into more detail please say.

The exact same thing happened before, around 400 years ago, it was known as the "Medieval Warm Period" where the same things that we suspect to be a global catastrophe, happened. The media hugely glorifies anything that could pose a threat to us and quite frankly, I don't care about all this Mian bullshit because I'll be laughing when it's not happening.

The same people running around screaming about global warming and greenhouse effects are the exact same people who 10 years ago were running around screaming about y2k and the virus that was sure to spell economic/financial ruin.

Some people just need something to concentrate on and obsess over so they don't go batshit crazy and shoot somebody.

It was especially funny to me to see these people running around screaming about 3.1.

(had to be done, I couldn't expect those guys to infer for themselves...)

it's always been 'interesting', remember the cold war? the images of the future being like the jetsons?

futures are almost always more boring than projected

depends, the 13 colonies im sure didn't expect to ride around in metal/leather/rubber boxes instead of horses.

and they're boring as hell to drive, unless you don't have speed limits

The world will end in the year 5.5/Apple/26 (which is roughly 5 billion years away) due the expanding sun. But at this point, humans have already left Earth behind and colonized other planets.

Like I have said before: F' this planet, lets trash it while we have scientists work on an advanced space program to get us to our next 'home'. And once we get there, rinse and repeat.

Most of us know it is a lie, Luka. The main stream media wants to pump fear into those people that will act on the first thing they hear. It is all about money and new ways to get it. If you sell something that is really nothing (carbon off-set credits) than you can make 100% profit. Glad I am around some that can see through that and think for themselves.

Bottom line is that history repeats itself. I don't hear crap about the big hole in the ozone anymore (the old gimmick in the 80's). Soon you will be asked to change your meter on your house to monitor your real usage of power (this is really to get you to use less power so they can get more people on the grid and raise rates without upgrading equipment). Government wants control of the media, radio, and internet. Last but not least throughout history a dictatorship is followed by a democracy and they take turns. Get ready for a king or someone that will run over and over by getting rid of term limits, using the immigrant vote to win each time. I do not know how many people on here are dirt poor and live on welfare but just a news flash for ya, they want you to stay that way and vote for them to keep giving it to you (this is called a voting farm / ghetto). You are slaves to the vote and you are purchased with tax dollars.

Hell their is a fee for paying your taxes at the end of the year all at once. I did not want to give an intrest free loan to the government and they pay me back at the end of the year. I went exempt for the last 6 months of the year and wanted to pay instead of get a refund check. I paid $ 6,656 dollars to federal that year. They next year (since you are not allowed to go exempt in back to back years) I did not go exempt but made an adjusment to where I maybe would not have to pay that much. I ended up with an over payment and got a refund. They did not give me the refund but a letter saying a fee was applied for not paying taxes till the end of the year (this is the intrest money they lost on the free loan you did not give them). I had to pay $ 112.00 dollars MORE to them.

Sorry for the rants but the government is pissing me off with their BS. I used to live in the United States of America. I do not now and never changed my address (Think about it).

I am sure we'd find a planet with oxygen. To think Earth is the only habitable planet is not only extremely arrogant, but incredible stupid.

Our major issue is that the further we go away from the sun, the colder it gets. Engines stall and stop working eventually, so unless we invent some sort of way to keep the engine working were stuck here.

You can't seriously think that we can fix the Earth by recycling and using clean energy. Whats done is done; time for us to look to the stars and leave. Its not like this relationship was meant to last; we'll eventually leave, if not within the next thousand years eventually.

But to believe that an ancient civilization predicted that the world will end in 2012 with what little science they had (and by science, I mean religion) is absurd. I don't want to go off topic and make people angry, but I would think that we would be beyond the whole "I don't understand whats going on, HOLY CRAP ITS MAGIC/THE WORK OF GOD!"

Yes my idea may sound absurd, but sometimes we need to look towards fiction to bring about fact.

"Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today - but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation if we are to be saved at all." ~Isaac Asimov
