Rogue PvE Viablilty

They're fine, always have been, a bit gear dependent, once you get to tier 5/6/6.5 you'll be doing fine, especially if you get your hands on glaives.

This is as far as I know from combat, I don't know much about assassination and 0 about sub.

Assassination rogues are viable in pve, the gear is pretty nice, would leave it as it is unless you want to consider the 4 set piece bonus from slayers.

Yeah the t6 4pc is basically required. 6% more mutilate damage is too good to pass up. I would suggest at least attempting to cap expertise also, since you need spell hitcap (7.5% hit + 7.5% expertise, or any combination that leads to 15% -> 190 rating). The Trinket from Magister's Terrace is very good for this purpose.

I can see rogue being very viable now that they also have fan of knives

You are clearly PVE BIS, OP. Excellent gear, can see you've put some time into your rogue. You should be doing excellent DPS, I use all the same gear for when I raid and I'm usually top of dps. Remember haste potions and buff food, makes a difference. With regards to your gear its perfect, although I'd change around that second trinket but that might be personal preference.

Here's my assassination write up I did several months ago if you want to try Assassination PVP, some parts of it might be outdated now but I imagine the main parts still stand.

Yeah, I'm just glad I don't need to farm SSC anymore. ^.^
Btw, do you think Dragonspine Trophy (Dragonspine Trophy - Item - World of Warcraft) would top shard as a second trinket?

Personally, I simply wouldn't bother at all with that expertise trinket, the difference it would make is marginal compared to what other trinkets can offer. Splosion is right, you need expertise but its incredibly hard to cap without gimping other main stats.

My trinket combinations for PVE are as followed:

First slot: Figurine - Shadowsong Panther - Item - World of Warcraft (imo bis pve)

Second slot: Dragonspine Trophy - Item - World of Warcraft (stacking attack power as much as I can, this provides the nice haste proc and the JC trinket provides the attack power clicky)

I think this is _probably_ the best combination, but everyone has their personal favorite, I think the above is a pretty solid combo.

You could if you like change the second trinket for:
Blackened Naaru Sliver - Item - World of Warcraft
Madness of the Betrayer - Item - World of Warcraft

Purely situational. :)

Two things.

Firstly, since you lack cooldowns at 70, I don't see the point in an on-use trinket, besides perhaps to line-up with potions or bloodlust. Given when they occur in a PvE fight, you're probably better off using two better proc trinkets as it's highly likely they will stack up to more damage.

Secondly, I wasn't suggesting expertise just for expertise's sake. Assassination needs to cap spell hit, which means you need your hit + expertise ratings to add up to 190, otherwise you're missing poison damage, which is a huge deal. In PvE the only real variation in trinkets you will ever want is for single target vs AoE (best example is trinkets that proc damage, as they tend to work far better for AoE than +stat ones).

Pretty sure either Sliver + Shard or Sliver + Madness would be best in slot for any melee in tbc. I can't see why you'd use anything else at this point for PvE.

As I said in my original post, situational. :)

I would definitely go with this idea if I was involved in a 7-10 man sunwell with just seventies but with a raid group, or a even with one or two 90's helping an encounter wont last more than one lot of cool down on any trinket, and when I was raiding with all mah guildies we would have full raid groups and it was more of a case of zerg every boss so I needed that extra control in spikes of damage I contributed.

It's sad that you can't even use Shadow Dance at lvl 70 anymore, combat got Adrenaline rush, but Subtlety doesn't have any offensive cooldowns atm.
