Rogue - Fiery vs. Lifestealing

Well thats the question. I have Cruel Barbs x2 and 1 WSG Dagger for Ambush. [Until I get SF and AB]

Im going to be a Rogue built for Pure Damage, so I need to know what I need on what weapon. The Dagger will be put away right after Ambush, its just to open a fight. To my understanding, they both have same proc rate, about 6PPM. Life stealing means 30 away from enemy, 30 to me. So thats baically 60 good stuff for me. Fiery ~45. 45 Damage as to 30 damage and 30 heal. I cant decide. Should I have one of each, which in OH and which MH? Which for dagger? Please back up your decision with somekind of information. This is meant to start a debate so we can get alot of information from both sides. My thinking is probably wrong, lol, and thats why Im asking for your help.

TBH Im leaning towards Lifestealing on CBs and Crusader for dagger.

Fiery, use herb/first aid to heal.

Can you still get "Lifeblood" if your a new twink? Lifeblood Doesn't cause damage, and when your in the middle of a fight, you dont want to stop and try to get a bandage out, or atleast I dont want to try that.

yes you can get lifeblood, up to 225 (720 heal)

if you want more damage, skinning at 225 gives you 9 crit rating i think.

but lifeblood will save you especially if you're going straight DPS/no HP

I'm going dual firey for twink just because it is more ideal to use Lifeblood for healing. And since your going full DPS, if they target you in a premade, you go down so much that your enchant won't save you.

So then what should i get for bonus:

Herbalism - Lifeblood

and

Mining - Toughness

or

Skinning - +Crit Rating??

Some say this is a weird way of looking at it, but this is my point of view:

People do not place enough value on the healing portion of lifestealing, esp considering how much more important hp is in 3.1.

So instead of comparing fiery's 40 dmg per proc to LS 30 dmg per proc, lets look at the total health exchanged.

Assumed 6 PPM:

Fiery:240 hp

LS: 360 hp

If you have both weapons enchanted:

Fiery:480 hp

LS:720 hp

In my opinion, Lifesteal will benefit you more, but is also inclined twords a safer playstyle as opposed to the aggressive, all-or-nothing playstyle of someone using fiery.

Some people will point out that there is more Shadow resist in the 19 bracket, so lifesteal will miss more. While this is true, i believe that there will be a rise in people with +fire resist chants the more popular fiery weapon gets, not to mention a little item called [item=4376]Flame Deflector[/item] that essentially makes fiery useless for a short period of time.

In the end, it comes down to preference and your play style.

As for your weapon selection:

Ambush:Tail Spike MH +5 weap dmg, Theif's/CB OH +15 agi.

Normal combat: If you have the patience id get two sets of CB's, one set with fiery and one with LS, see which style you prefer. You might also want to get a CB/TB combo both with +15 agi for those chance RvR duels.

Edit: Get Herbalism. If you plan on doing more bg's, get engi. If you do more arenas get mining.

I would say life stealing because it does less damage, but drains health allowing you to save your cool downs on the occasion. 10 damage isn't going to make a difference and as far as I know life stealing procs more Fiery just seems like a horrible chant over all to me since its a rare proc with only 40 damage. Imo you do more damage wit life stealing in the long run.

I'm an idiot though.

Lifestealing against rogues, Fiery for anything else. This is for mainhand.

Fiery proccs all the time and 10 damage per enchant sure makes a difference. Better to put more pressure on your target than making yourself last longer when you could bandage/herb up anyway.

i knew its a pretty high ppm, i just assumed 6ppm for my example.

Would i be correct in assuming firey is 8 ppm as well?

Fiery and LS are both 6 PPM, this has been tested and proven a loooong time ago. I would be really surprised if tests show completely different data now.

How about Crusader, where does that stand amongst the 2? Lets say Crusader Proc's 1 PPM, lol that 125 heal makes up for the 6 heals cuz it gives you 100strength to make crazy attacks higher then fiery.

Do you realise what you're saying

and @ Mummified: that's including special attacks, of course the proc rate is going to be higher in that case. The auto attack PPM is 6.

For me I have Crusade and Fiery and I use the Shadow damage maces, Cant remember what they are. I like the combo because that extra 100 str procs alot for me.
