Returning Player - Some questions

Hello all - returning from a 5 year hiatus to play level 20

Just some questions I have:
1. Trying to farm some gear on my level 20 druid, going for a headpiece in The Botanica - I've just killed the boss 5 times and not had a single drop of any item, is this because I'm too low level and actually require a higher level to loot the item then trade it to me while in party? or am I just getting unlucky?
2. Is it possible to get skyriding on a level 20? I hear this is the new version of 830% riding that was introduced to dragonflight and now you just have to follow the war within campaign?

Thanks everyone - good to see some old faces still around

If you can get into the dungeon to kill it, you can loot it. Sometimes bad luck is just bad luck.

I think it's early in the DF campaign. But yes, you can unlock skyriding and once it's unlocked you can skyride on any of your relevant toons. Even without that, simply unlocking flight is a huge convenience for us.

Thanks for the info - yeah luck aint on my side today then - 8 boss kills total and not a single drop?? madness!

Wait til you try for your 3 socket belt, youll be wishing for 8 kills =)
So about that... can any dungeon drop also proc an additional gem slot as well as bonus Speed/leech/avoidance?

I left around WoD/BFA where things were just starting to warforge and quest items could upgrade.

on neck, rings, bracers, helm, and belt can proc an additional (or "a") socket, so two socket belts from TBC dungeons can proc a third

Thanks - one last question. If I solo dungeons, am I only able to loot items that relate to my class? Will I be able to loot for instance, cloth/plate items on my druid?

only if legacy loots on, have to be in a group with a higher level to enable it so if your not in legacy loot, you will just get class specific loot drops

Currently, the only dungeons with guaranteed boss drops for soloists are the WoD dungeons. All the other dungeons are distributing boss loot as if you were in a group, so you will not be guaranteed a loot drop even though you are alone.

And, you are correct: you can only get loot for your class. Not only that, but you will only get loot for the class specialization you have chosen (you can change this by right-clicking on your character pane). So you have to also determine what specialization is correct for the boss to drop the loot you want. Check that with the adventure guide in-game.
