Retribution Paladin Damage?

I know there has been 50 threads similar to this, but, one has not been made in 5.3. Since my Hunter is now classified as Overpowered I figured I might reroll a Ret pally on a random server. Anyone know if ret is actually playable and is classified as a dps class?

Also, Duopaladin can't post in this thread.

I played my ret and it seems to me that the damage is just about the same. Still requires the same amount of skill to play the spec effectively, but it's enjoyable. In my opinion anyway.

I don't want to play the spec if I will be completely ineffective, and bads will be able to 1v1 me.

If it helps, I almost solo'd a disc priest. She was pretty good too.
The dmg isn't that bad, it's just that the burst isn't there. But as a paladin, you have enough emergency buttons.
Just try out. If you don't like it, just switch to prot after lol.

in the average 5.2 bg i got about 5-8 kb's so yeah you will and in my opinion now i do a conciderable amount more damage about 850 crit's with 0 looms

I think rets do enough damage to be viable to a team, and their offheals help.

Check out Roseycheeks @ Korgath. She makes ret work really well (even in arena). In fact, she makes it work better than prot because of how much more offhealing she can do. You can see her in action on either my or Yeayoumadx's twitch.tv accounts.

Roll Arms War if you want to hit something with a 2hander. CS does a little over 200 with a crit on a 4.5 second cooldown. TV hits near 700ish with max DPS gear.

I'm just saying you shouldn't get your hopes up, its on the same level as Enh really. People tend to exaggerate numbers here alot.

I have heard you're lucky if you crit beyond 250, which really, isn't too impressive.

i burst on average 1 k on my ret pally . it is max str biss except for he doesnt have bar. with zerk i hit 450-460 jujment crit 750-800 tv crit and 300-450 cs crit . heals are still very nice.

Those numbers seem a bit far-fetched for me to believe.
