Reflecting on an Expansion

Go Outside Fools
WOD is coming up. We will have a refresh of the bracket, so, many changes for better or worse are on the way! I think now is a good time to start reflecting on what MOP brought to our little f2p niche. I know it can be more exciting to discuss incoming changes, but come on, you won't REALLY know until WOD hits. So while it's still fresh in our minds, lets reflect, shall we?

Share with us your favorite part about MOP (and least favorite, youz like to complain).

What was your best experience during MOP (like, did you makes friends or BIS a char, w/e)?

What are some memorable things about the gameplay that you liked or didn't like (huntar op, favorite spells etc.)?

Last, what do you think defined MOP? We can safely say that Huntars over-shadowed everything in Cata, but I do believe that MOP was just a lil different.

My favorite part about MoP was discovering new mechanics for classes, although they took away a lot of things from cata they did add some elements to classes to make them better (for example, in-combat charge for warriors, cast while moving for Ele shamans, etc.)

My least favorite part about MoP was the way they decided to change mana. It takes a lot longer to oom in MoP than it did in Cata and everyone has the same mana regardless of how much intellect they have. Also the removal of Wargames for xp-off toons even though that happened pretty recently in mop its still a shitty change nonetheless especially to me.

Things that I didn't like about the gameplay was obviously the removal of spells from cata. With the removal of these spells it made it somewhat harder to function on certain classes, but that can also be seen as a positive because you have to focus more on the basics such as movement, and bg clarity which are both a pivotal part of WoW PvP.

Lastly, I think burst defined MoP. Healing burst in general was increased despite the introduction of Battle Fatigue, and Damage Burst was greatly increased due to new mechanics increasing class damage like Fulmination or Arcane Shatter and obviously the rogue/warrior damage buffs which were incredibly bursty. At least to me it feels like the burst was a lot higher than it was in cata despite the introduction to base resilience.

Healing was OP at the start. Still strong, considering how nerfed it is.
Watching resto druids rise from complete cata garbage to god tier only to fall back to the middle was pretty interesting.
The forum rage over shield slam.
Hunters starting out piss weak in 5.0 and then becoming OP again by the end of the expac.
Cast on the move lightning bolt otherwise known as lolcantkite.
Oh yeah people play shamans now.
People play resto/boomies now.
The initial community events were dope, and then stopped for whatever reason.
Shared achievements/mounts/titles both made me happy and a little sad at the same time.

I liked that more classes/specs were made not only viable but serious contenders on the killing fields, and i like that more still will be added too this list in less than month.

Favourite part of MOP was the 5 man premades i did late at night with Adrodox, Elarandria, Taylondor, and Rosa. We were unstoppable xD
Also the countless hours spent laughing and talking about music with my m8 bearjiro.
shout outs to all the people on ET, and also Deej and Ruby.
Pretty fun expansion for me :)

Nostalgia thread?

My favorite moments were when I...

saw the warlock I heavily stalked in the same BG for gear references (Nineteen),
looted a chest that had MM inside,
first caught Keefer,
got first place in the Fishing Contest and obtained the ring (I didn't even know about the ring, I just happened to get first and discovered it. Heh!),
finally got my 12th Arena Master,
got my second AGM,
needed on MTB and won,
someone /awe me in a BG admiring my gear.
1v1 that "one" hunter,

Some of those go back to Cataclysm, but whatever. This thread brings me back.

Remember that one patch where Holy Shock did way too much damage? That was fun. I made a holy paladin with the name Churntheturd just so can Holy Shock people. I thought Churntheturd was funny because the cooldown for Holy Shock acted like you were churning a piece of shit then throwing it at people. Then came the 24 Spriests...

The best part of MoP was making friends, people who I've never met IRL but fun to play with.
Fatdot, you were the first one. It was around October and we would sit in mid on our broomsticks staring at eachother with our Sea Horses out as one of us dies from a rogue. lolol
Moments with Deej, running around in mid on our Sea Turtles. <3

It's been good MoP. Let's hope WoD brings something as good or even better. <3

must say ( ye i know, i was near 1 year offline ), in mop the bracket was mutch better than in cata.
my favourite part was the heal nerf, this have cleard all the scrubs around the battlegrounds what was role on restro n holadin.
the next top part was the scaling in bg.
i cant realy say class xy is still op, i think we got a good low lvl balance.
sure hunter dmg is to easy, ye 24 sp is hard, ye ambush crits sometimes to high and druid offheal like a bit op.
but nerf just 1 and u broken the class like a ret.

i hope whit wod we got near the same balance like now.

5.2

What was your best experience during MOP (like, did you makes friends or BIS a char, w/e)?

Yes I did and all of them.

What are some memorable things about the gameplay that you liked or didn't like (huntar op, favorite spells etc.)?

rejuv initial tick.
weak ass f*cking riptide.

Best part of mop; Combat charge and finally starting to play on EU (meeting all the agg ppl etc)

Worst part; This dull summer..

Fatdot, you were the first one. It was around October and we would sit in mid on our broomsticks staring at eachother with our Sea Horses out as one of us dies from a rogue. lolol

This is too good lol, it makes me realise how fast this expansion seems to have gone, honestly it feels like a month ago I was leveling my first alliance toon, but really it was over a year ago. It makes me wonder where all the time has gone. I guess time just flies when you're having fun.

The ability to hit cap vs 24s and actually cc them was an excellent addition. Boomy, Ele, Destro, Izac spec, the OP version of shield slam, Arms were all very enjoyable. Most fun I had was the WPvP events and giving arenas another shot (while they were available).

Mop has been great for me, i started playing wow for the first time at the start of mop. I have learnt so much and met so many great people. Getting exalted in ab was alot of fun, while playing horde i still made friends on alliance (fatdot and ruby).

I am very happy with my feral and rogue. Getting shadowfang was a highlight c:

Hope we have just as much fun in wod.

wow lets see. At the start there was premades with Ploy Swell ash sun and free on ally. guardian resto hpally and 3 rogues for the scummiest comp ever. there was those amazing wpvp events . there was the roller coaster ride of healing vs hunter damage. O and the process of slowly stealing every remaining good player and bringing them to BWL.

but most of all gnome ball was a highlight for me. #bwlbaddies #undefeated

Worst part of mop- that time around 5.2 (cant remember exactly) where spell hit was messed up with scaling and so many spells would miss, made me very angry lol.
Also the druid travel form change pissed me off and i stopped maining druid ciz of it lul.
Id go on but everyone said what i would say already... idk i didnt like mop, it felt like it went on too long, cant wait for change in wod, for better or worse

They nerfed healing too much and the bracket became a hunterfest just like it was in Cata, except hunters are even more braindead in MoP. At least in Cata, burst healing could sort of keep up with burst damage. Now you spam heal your target and they die anyway.

why ppl always think a heal must burst more than 3 dps?
now da heal have to move...

3 DPS? A single hunter can burn me down without interrupts. They're actually more obscene than they were in Cata, which is saying quite a bit.

The healing-to-damage ration is worse than its ever been in this bracket because they didn't bring baseline resilience in line with Battle Fatigue. Healing has been nerfed by 65% while damage has only been nerfed by 40%. The end result is that DPS doesn't even need to CC healers anymore. They pick a target and roll face.
