Recommended recording software?

Just joined twinkinfo recently and I have I've had twinks for some time at 19, 29, 60, 70, soon to be 91 + and am wondering what the most recommended recording programs are. Free ones that work are helpful I'm not looking for some rank one high quality swifty used hardcore Avatar 3D by James Cameron for a billion views stuff just want something basic to make a few clips for a youtube channel.
