I gave him the benefit of the doubt and traded first. He logged off and I never saw him again.

I don't know you, but anyone leaving WoW deserves a goodbye, even from a stranger. I'm in the same boat you are, and trust me it's a lot of fun when you have a lot more time on your hands.
