Question about big dig event

I’ve been at the place where the event starts several times. Always alone. When the event starts I will see the text from the guy, but no timer no dig sites, and no counter of the pages will appear, also no boss will spawn after 10 min. Is it possible to do the event solo as F2P?

if yes, how?

If no, what is necessary to start the event properly?
 
Bring level 1-9 there (kudos to @Conzil) and stay away. You will get into actual event phase on lowbies.
Leeching is very welcome there, since you may deadloop npcs and block progress.
More than 1 wow window will speedup the process greatly.
 
I could manage to bring a lvl2 to the spot.
This was not that easy need a wl port or a lvl 50-69 to use the summoning stone.

The event started,in the correct phase but without the help of high level I was not able to gain rep. Only received 35 fragments with 4 death from digging spots. some digging spots did not spawn npcs. The bar filled to 140/1000.
are there some things I miss?
are there some other nice features we can do with a char below lvl 10?
 
You dont dig. You stay far. Cos while npc calls you pikachu, it will not give tasks to others and block progress. Thus, you will get a lot of angry people around ya and probably violate ToU, lol.
Login, watch, open drops, repeat. You will end goldcap (1000) quite soon and will need some bags to hold the grays.
Use few windows on diff servers to grind faster (idk why in avg emeralddreams was moving faster than overpop silvermoon).
No hurry.
Alzo, its fine w/o summons too, ship, loot few golds to fly to FP

You could do technically do the Soridormi rep, but you would need some help.

A few mobs during the event gives like 1 rep, this is me on my level 9 twink (that I use for DF stuff)
Was grouped with a level 80 that killed mobs around the event.
