Hey there,
Yesterday I was in the paladin order hall and I've seen a holy paladin with Ashbringer's transmog while wielding 1h & shield.
I started investigating and it looks like you can glitch the artifacts transmogs with some limitations.
Quick disclaimer here : This is a glitch so you theorically can get banned doing this.
This glitch is a transmog glitch so don't expect gaining any advantage over an other twink.
How to do it : I'll be using an example here, so ppl don't get lost. In that example I'm a mage with 1h weapon + offhand equipped and I want to transmog that into Aluneth (arcane artifact weapon, staff) for my frost spec
1- Prepare yourself :
go into arcane spec
open the transmog tab
click on your main hand weapon
select Legion's artifact weapon in the menu
click on the appearance of Aluneth you want to use
and Save the transmog (Don't apply it to your weapon)
2- The glitch :
open the respec menu
switch to frost
while casting, open the transmog panel
wait for the cast to be almost done
click on Apply when the cast is at 99%
If this is done properly you should now have a 1h + offhand weapon transmogged as Aluneth in frost spec.
The limitations :
So i've done quite a few tests but there is more to discover.
First : the appearance will only show for the spec you were when you mogged the weapon.
In our example if my mage goes into fire spec, no more Aluneth mog, I have the basic appearance of the weapon and have to start the process all over again if i want it on my fire spec.
Same if I go back to arcane spec.
If I don't mog the weapon while in fire spec, I can go back to frost spec and weapon will retain Aluneth transmog
Second : It looks like there are some basic rules.
1H+OH can be mogged into 2H
Dualwielding 2x 1H can be mogged into 2H (you will hit the target with your fist instead of offhand weapon)
2H can't be transmogged into 2x 1H
2H can't be transmogged into 1H+OH or 1H+shield
1H+OH can be mogged into 2x 1H as long as the type of weapon is respected
therefore
Druids can transmog dagger + OH into 2x daggers
Druids can transmog mace/fist weapon + OH into 2x Fist weapons
Shamans can transmog mace/fist weapon/axe + shield into 2x Maces
This thread is useless for hunters, you can't transmog a ranged weapon into pole arm or the opposite
Enjoy your mogs guys
If you find any tips or rules post them below. Ty
Quick Edit : if you want to change spec more easily use this macro :
/run SetSpecialization(1)
change the number 1-3 or 1-4 depending on which spec you want to use (Thanks Ivo for the tip)
