For some reason when I am in present timeline, none of the portals in Stormwind work. Is this intended or is it a bug?

i have had issues with timelines affecting ezoo trinket, portals, mob scaling. what i discovered on a VET F2P DF capped account is the selections and sequences at chromie that affect the above.

going to chromie and selecting DF time from the screen of expacs vs when your player is in a older time then asking chromie on her first screen to return you to current time. both should end up with your player in current time but that is not the case. i now use the second part wher ei intentionally put my player in a older time, then ask chromie to switch this usually enables the trinket again, not sure about portals

there are also quests from the mission board to start older expacs, this can change SW that affects the SW docks and probably portals while you are still in current time you set up. i was picking up the legion quest from my garrison, which gave me another 1 use hearthstone, but the docks get changed with no ship to BFA or DF

Most portals are broken in current timeline, but there are alternate ways to get to many locations.

Alliance portals working: Pandaria, Draenor, Broken Isles, Kul-Tiras (important), Bel'ameth
Also you have a Honor Hold mage downstairs to get you to Outland
Kul-Tiras portal room goes to: Stormwind, IronForge, Exodar, Silithus (depending on Zidormi timeline)
Darnassus is one flight away from Exodar, and it has a Outland & Exodar portal in the mage area, and Exodar has a portal back to Stormwind.
I haven't explored Bel'ameth much, you appear next to portals to Stormwind & Mt Hyjal

Horde portals working: Pandaria, Draenor, Broken Isles
Unfortunately the Thrallmar mage downstairs doesn't work, nor does the Zuldazar portal
My horde alts not in active use, I often set their hearthstone to Zuldazar so they have quick portals to: Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, Silvermoon, and Silithus
However Orgrimmar Zepplin tower provides quick getaway to Undercity, which also has a Silvermoon city portal above ground.
A quick flight down the sewers into the mage quarters of Undercity will provide a portal to Outland

Also your Dalaran Hearthstone is on a 20 minute timer. In the middle of Dalaran (Legion) is a portal to Aegwynn's Gallery, which also has portals to Wyrmest Temple (short flight to Dalaran - Northrend), Karazhan, and old Dalaran Crater (watch the drop!)

With all those portals, you can get most places except Oribos without swapping timelines.

It's super-annoying and seems to be an intentional change. Once you hit level 30 (?) they start working. There is a workaround though:

1. Go into CT (any) and go into the portal you want
2. Find an innkeeper and set hearth
3. Go back to SW/Org and return to the present timeline
4. Hearth back to where you were

I've had to use this for TBC and Caverns of Time. It's tedious and annoying.

Thats why we prefer workarounds like fractured skull toy or portal Belamteh->Feralas.

Sure. But it shouldn't be necessary. Particularly the Caverns of Time portal since all it does is take you to Tanarais, a zone you can otherwise get to just fine.

And again, CT didn't used to work this way. It changed in DF I believe.

CoT portal was working fine during anniversary, and then they broke it - again, by purpose. How ironic.

Technically, the CoT portal didn't work below level 30 (?) outside of CT and they made it work for the anniversary event. It just reverted back to the default functionality. But this one in particular should never have been restricted. I have no idea what they were thinking.

If you set your hearth in Shattrath, Zephyr in World's End Tavern will port you to CoT.

There is a titan portal going between Un'Goro Crater and Sholazar Basin.

Not sure if there are more hidden portals not listed. I think someone should draw up a F2P portal/travel map to list all the portals, boats, & airships available to us.
