Ok, so... How long does it take to get BoA stuff?

I am taking a break from twinking to get one of my druids to level 80. He's 72 now. Once I hit 80, how long does it typically take to get some good BoA stuff? I am new to this who 80 thing :)
 
if you have friends to do heroics/naxx with itll take about a month to get a few items probably. if youre just pugging stuff all the time itll take 2-3 months
 
Umm, well if you want the PvP BoA stuff (costs Stone Keepers Shards) You will need to run heroics, or regular instances while you faction controls Wintergrasp. Each boss drops 3 Stone Keeper Shards I believe. Doing the dailies in Wintergrasp also reward Stone Keeper Shards, there are like 3 (maybe 4) dailies, which give 3 each I believe. The shoulders from SKS costs 200, one handed weapons cost 200, the pvp trinkets cost 250 and the two handers are 325.



Roughly 3-5 bosses per heroic, that's 15 SKS a run? :S



But by doing heroics you also get Emblems of Heroism, which can be used to purchase some BoA rewards. The difference between the Emblem BoA items and the SKS items is resilience. And depending on which bracket at lower levels, its not going to make the biggest difference when you drop a rogues crit chance by 2% XD



If you run heroics to gear up a bit and try some of the new content, it goes fairy fast. I was up to 400 SKS before i knew it, along with like 120 emblems.

I bought BoA gear for about 400 emblems, and it does take some time, but just stick to the fast ones ( DTK, Gundrak and CoT//AN) and you will make a decent amount of badges per day
 
And now, when you do 25 man raids, you can exchange those emblems for the 10 man ones. Sarth and Naxx are puggable on most servers. Maybe not a full Naxx on some, but still, you'll get a decent amount of badges for easy reward.



Lets say you do Naxx 10, Naxx 25, Sarth 10, Sarth 25, VOA 10, VOA 25 and each heroic in 1 reset, that's 68 badges. Lets say you do each heroic every day + all those raids, and you could be sitting on 416 badges after one lockout. That doesn't even include Malygos, so...



Emblems really are so easy to get. =/

Thank you for this topic! I actually managed to log my rusty main for a few hours and almost got him to 71. BoA-gear, here I come (within two months or so)!
 
Listen, Go for Badge stuff it cost 40 Emblems of Hero. its done in a week if u do it right. just go instance 3-4 times a day. and it wont take long time. 200 Shards is a lot. if u think about it. u don't have WG all the time, so i recomand Emblems.



And The shards Boa got more poor stats imo, resi? u can't use it for anything in this lvl really.

As a general rule of thumb I agree with this statement, but as any long time player will know, half the battle with making a great twink is having a solid itemization plan. I would assume any person who is going to look into BoA items will take the time to examine the differences between those provided by Badges and those provided by Stone Keeper Shards.



The one item that I would say is highly effective from Stone Keeper Shards is the Wintergrasp Commendation. A BoA +2000 honor for a level 19 twink is the difference between getting your Insignia of the Horde/Alliance now and getting it after 2 weeks of solid games. (NOTE: There is currently a bug where these are only available with Marks of Wintergrasp.)



Also, if you are looking for how a BoA item would scale with your level "X" character I suggest you use the following method (shamelessly poached from the wowhead comments) by heading to wowhead:



1. Click the "link" button, there will be a popup window with some automatically highlighted text.

2. Copy the text (Windows: Ctrl-C, Mac: Cmd-C) and close the popup window.

3. Open (or switch to) WoW and press Enter to open up your chat dialog.

4. Paste the code into the box (Windows: Ctrl-V, Mac: Cmd-V) and press Enter.

5. A message in white text will appear in your chat log followed by an item link.

6. You can click this link to view the details and can Ctrl-click it to view it on your character. The item will automatically scale to your character level and tell you stats it will provide.
 
Update: I got behind a week on starting this. Now that I have started, I am rolling right along. I was at 73 last Thursday.



Last night I dinged 77... AND 78. Started at 76.75 or so... Ended the evening 78.10. Woot. Almost there!!!
 
leveling once in one day on a level 30 for me is exhausting.



how do you level without killing yourself :(

Drive and Desire. That's all. I want the BoA shoulders with +30stam for my new druid before they get nerfed.
 
im currently getting two ish pairs of shoulders per week (or have been) naxx 10 / 25 + sarth / maly 10 / 25 (easy to find pugs for) get more then enough for 1 pair.



then onto heroics for the remaining emblems for another pair, currently only need 2 more pairs of shoulders and i have them all :p but i need staff and 3 trinkets :O just figured id get the shoulders asap before they stop enchantability.
 
Is the shoulders still enchantable even after the small hotfix on thursday ? cos if their not i will stop busting a gut to lvl my main if they still work :S looks like some long fast lvling needed
