US Oceanic/Prot Pally info

G'day all!

Newbie here to the 19 bracket. Obviously know about it from plenty of youtube videos out there, lots of stories of the good old days and general google searching about BGs and heirlooms ect ect.

This forum is great! Well done for posting so much info and being so welcoming of newbies who want to have fun at this strange bracket :p

I just wanted to post this thread because I could not find answer to a few things i wanted to know.



Question 1: Why is there is no guides/profiles/info on Prot pallys? Are they seriously useless? I know i am only level 10 right now, and playing regular BGs with exp turned on, so im in with normal levelers, But unless i come up against a rouge or a druid, or im teamed up on, I usually dont die. If i have a healer with me, i can basically flag carry without issues, unless again im teamed up on. It seems like it should be a good spec for BGs and i really enjoy it (partly because of the extra RP element i get from pretending im the real addisyn the untouchable :p)

Question 2: I am on Jubei'Thos. When i que through the regular LFG system via the pvp tab, is this cross realm ques? When i get to level 19 and i turn off exp gain, will i find games just by queing regularly like this from that window? Or do i need to be invited to a party of people utilizing the war games option? I'm just a little confused because so many forums i read are saying once you turn off exp gain your que will never pop but this forum here is saying you can cross realm and PUG and get plenty of games?

I play Oceanic too, and as far as I'm aware, we queue with every other U.S Server, xp on or off using the LFG PvP tab! :)

As for the prot pallies, I do see a few in the 20-29 bracket, but I am rather out of date with the 19 bracket, but I believe not only are they viable FC's they also pack a decent punch! :)
 
Prot Paladins are not useful whatsoever in WSG imo, paladin in general is not good for playing WSG do to the only thing of honestly offhealing more than damaging. If you do play paladin in bg's being WSG your best bet would to be playing retribution.

Why Retribution? Do to the fact that it can do decent single target damage given a crusader proc, it is mainly used for offheals as they can get up to 2k healing crits and have a very fast mana regen. It is not what one could consider a front line damaging class but a mid clash offhealing and using stun to force trinkets on healers mainly. It can be used for escorting FC but rarely to FC as its self given the fact your main Fc is either dead or still crossing and you have safe passage and are near enemy base!

That is really all I can think of as of playing a paladin. TL;DR = Paladin is only viable as Retribution
 
That's a shame about prot pally, As i know this probably sounds so so silly to most, but i really like the RP aspect of addisyn and as per the lore, she is indeed a prot pally.

But anyway, I may have to think about going up a bracket to try and see if its viable. Thank you for the info and i hope to see you in the battlegrounds!

Honestly, if you're dead set on playing prot paladin, 20-29 will be your best bet. They're a bit better in that bracket, and the level of competition is low enough that you can pretty much derp around on anything and feel effective.

Np man! It's a shame that you will be looking to play a different bracket. I probably would see you in BG's but I haven't really touched 19 in roughly 2 weeks haha.
 
Well it looks like I wont be getting into BG's anyway (atleast not as a permanent twink, i need to turn on my exp gain again)

Being a father/husband/Working full time ect ect, I get to play about 3 hours a night (other than weekends). Waiting in que for 40 mintues last night and it didn't pop. I figured it was probably the time zone. Woke up this morning and decided to que and nope no luck so far :(

Ok so it took an hour and 20 minutes but i finally had my first experience with a twink only BG. I have to say it was lots of fun. much more tactical than the standard BG ques.

I understand why prot pally is so underwhelming. My avengers shield is amazing in mid fights and My stun is quite brutal. But my self heals are just not good enough, my health is just not high enough and my damage output is not good enough either.

Thats a real shame. Im useful in mid to synergize with other players to initiate a push, but other than that im no help to anybody :(

So, any opinions on this question would be greatly appreciate. What do you think would be the best class for my playstyle for twink BG in the 10-19 bracket?

I like playing those classes that are super annoying. Not necessarily strong, but those classes that just make life a living hell for the enemy. Either from CC, or being the main counter to something that is fairly common, or a class that you just cannot kill and is an awesome distraction, Or someone who can charge in and take the heat for the FC who is about to die. I just love to annoy people. I love to be in the thick of the fight, helping, but not necessarily killing everyone or being the one dieing all the time.
 
I remember how good prot pallys were in vanilla and early BC. You would have had a blast and felt so much more useful if you played one back then. Blessing of freedom was so OP back when you had it at 19 not to mention with a shield spike and ret aura would slowly widdle people down that were hitting you. Talk about a really annoying class.

That does sound like SO MUCH FUN! That is the exact sort of play style that i enjoy. Just being super annoying and useful to others. That is exactly why i THOUGHT prot pally would be good.

So if that isn't prot pallys anymore, what class is it? Specifically talking about the 10-19 bracket.
