No XP after patch 3.2?

There has been a lot of discussion about how the queue times for WSG will be longer once patch 3.2 hits due to turning off XP which will mean twinks vs. twinks only. My question is does everyone really see the need to turn off XP? If you have already spent the time and gold to get your twink setup then turning off XP would only be beneficial if you are missing a piece of gear or you only want to battle other twinks. I think it does make sense for groups to be equally matched (eg. twinks vs twinks with XP turned off). I am worried about long queue times but with XP turned off I could go exploring or help other twinks get gear. Any opinions on this?

New people getting The Explorer, bad thing.

People no longer dinging 20 by accident, bad thing (you don't want to have people that are careless with their XP calling themselves twinks, it's part of the concept).

Old twinks get the option to get newer gear, good thing.

New achievements available and no longer having to choose which achievements you want to do before you hit 1 XP before 20, good thing as I really like doing achievements.

Will continue later if anything comes up.

World PvP and other exploration things by the way don't really add for me, I'm on a PvE server and have everything already explored.

Some of those "accidental 20s" happened because they pushed the limit of XP getting new gear, then they queue up in 3.1, leave the BG when it's done, get dropped in a new zone and ding on discovery.

Some of those accidental 20s were people that got hacked or had an idiot roommate play their twink and dinged when they weren't even playing.

Granted, this either requires playing with fire and getting burned or being careless with your password (clicking possible keyloggers is careless). But still, I think that it will be nice when this is no longer possible.

That said, I have let some small upgrades pass by my hunter because he has only three bars of XP left. Enough that a small glitch like the 3.1 BG dropping would never ding him, but I didn't feel comfortable going any further. I will certainly be trying out the XP turn-off on my other twinks that have 15+ bars left just to make sure there are no more glitches.

Since Battlegrounds will now give experience in 3.2 you'll have to turn off experience to remain in your bracket otherwise you will level.

With no xp twinks will be able to help in instances again and get more gears for difrent sets maybe :)

You guys do know you can farm instances without getting XP?

Farming instances with no XP

Yes I know that it is possible but it requires having friends that appreciate twinking and I have none of those. I have had to twink my toons all by myself which is sad and lonely twink existence but the fun I have in WSG makes up for it :)

My feeling are basically exactly the same as Rayu- except...I am on a pvp server, and I have excited as shit for world pvp :) Is it still considering ganking if you're level 30 and being killing by 19's? o_O Getting some friends together and terrorizing STV ^_^

Yes, but that requires care. Most people that are actually willing to help me sometimes forget that ANY kill is a negative thing. Maybe some pats they missed, or maybe they just one-shot the boss before letting it completely kill me.

Even then, you can't get quest rewards without XP (this hurt my shaman).

You can't level up pets without it (this hurt my hunter back in TBC when I didn't realize how awesome boar charge would be, highest level boar you can tame is 16).

And the whole 450 profession debacle cost me a ton in discovery experience.

I am impatient for the new patch to come out for a few reasons: first, obviously, the no XP thang'. Second, just for 'locks, I read in the Q&A of WoW.com that they are making Soul Shards more useful, by giving them some kind of bonus to you, so that they wouldn't just be an item to farm. But back to the XP thing, I want this to happen because when I started playing WoW, I was careless and was a noob. I heard the word twink and thought it'd be a fun thing to try out. So, trying to make a desperate attempt to run to SFK, I pushed my XP so that if I gain only 65 more, I'll ding :( Now that I'm no longer a noob (but am too lazy to roll another to finish getting all my gear), I wish that I had more room to finish all my gear. So when this new patch comes out, not only will I be able to finish all my gear, but I'll be playing other twinks, making it all come down to skill. See ya' in the bg's ;)

Excellent point. However, depending on how Blizz sets up the rules, players may figure out how to play in WSG and avoid getting experience (e.g. grabbing the flag, but refusing to cap).

I also see players choosing to play in the Experience Battlegrounds, beating the crap out of regular players who expect it to be a twink free zone. Here are just two possibilities:

TWINK 19 - 80

Players that really like BGs deciding to level their old time 19 twinks up to 80 via battlegrounds.

TWINK FACTORY

Players starting WSG with a level 10 twink and leveling it in the 10-19 bracket. When their twink approaches level 20, it's retired and the player starts over with another level 10.

BoAs, cheap enchants, and plenty of cheap / high quality blue gear will make both approaches pretty easy. Granted, it would be time consuming and expensive to always have a best in slot 99% pure twink - but getting your toon up to the 90% Twink level would be fast and relatively cheap.

I can already hear the QQ . . .
