Hi there, we need new guides for the majority of classes, specs and brackets. Below you'll find a list of every class for every bracket between 19 and 49. There is a note next to each one indicating its status, and they are colour coded.
Green means that there is an up to date guide for that class; blue means a guide is being written for that class; orange means that there is a guide but it is out dated and the author has not replied to my PMs inquiring whether he intends to up date it; red means the guide is out dated or does not exist.
We are mainly looking for guides for those that are red or orange, however if you reckon you can write a good guide for a blue or green then feel free and go ahead.
We do not have any definite plans to introduce a guide section for any other brackets, but it is a possibility. If you like to write a guide for another bracket then that would be great.
Write you guide in the User Submitted Guides sections and then PM a member of staff once you are finished and we'll review it and hopefully we can move it to the official guide section.
General tips for writing a guide:
- Lay it out well. A guide can include all the necessary info and such but it can be a pain to read and use if it is not laid out well. When writing my guide I used size, colour, boldness and underlining to differentiate between sections, subsections, headings and subheadings. I like the way it turned out, and even though it isnt 100% polished yet i feel that its layout is good. Check out the 19 Druid Guide to see what i mean.
- If you are using multiple posts in your guide then disable your signature in the posts of the guide, especially if you have a large sig. Having a picture of a donkey playing table tennis might be amusing, but it seems unprofessional to have it in the centre of your guide. You can disable your signature in your guide posts by going to advanced options while writing or editing your post and ticking the disable signature box.
- Don't be too inflexible. For instance, in some cases one spec isnt best in every situation. A good guide imo is one that explains the benefits of different talents and offering advice for choosing specs. You should add recommended specs as well, but you shouldnt have one but not the other. This applies for other aspects of the guide, not just talents.
- Include as much relevant knowledge as you can. Sure talents, glyphs and items are pretty much all you need to start your twink, but listing helpful macros and tips will help a new player greatly.
