New to Twinking – Where’s the Action?

Hi everyone,
I'm an old WoW player who's looking to get into twinking.


Since I don’t have an active subscription right now, I made a new character on retail, leveled it to 10, and queued up for a random battleground. I tried multiple times, waited for 1–2 hours each time, but never got into a BG (unlike dungeons, which popped relatively quickly).


That got me wondering—maybe no one actually plays twinks on retail anymore? Or maybe there's some kind of bug? Or… I don’t even know.


So I wanted to ask: what's the current state of twinking?

• Is it still a thing on retail? If so, it's kind of weird that I didn’t get a single BG after two hours.
• Is Classic much more active for twinking these days?

Basically, I’d love some guidelines from people who are actively doing it—just to figure out where the best place is to play, and actually have a somewhat active experience instead of sitting in a queue for two hours and logging out frustrated.

F2P level 20 twinking is always an option and is quite active atm the 20-29 bracket BG ques seem to be popping on the daily at peak times on retail

Turtle WoW (patch 1.x private server, classic+) is picking up Blizzard's slack. Kinda fed up with Blizzard bullshit, so I chose to speak with my wallet and unsubbed.

The server has an active daily pops in 19s, 29s, 39s, 49s, and over 9000 daily active players on the Nordanaar server.

Tons of options atm for twinking (between retail, classic, and private servers).

Honestly, it's perfect. And free rofl.

Healthy endgame, constant new updates (classic +), active bgs, every bg bracket is active, custom leveling challenges with title/tabard/mount rewards (hardcore, warmode, white/grey quality item only, etc).

I played Warmane for a bit over the years but it just doesn't hold the same appeal as a real Blizz server.

Anyways, we are getting consistent and frequent pops on Classic Anniversary servers. Both the pvp and pve servers are linked like battlegroups. I kind of like the layered approach honestly, on Cata Classic there is literally no one on the server I am on.
