My Personal Shaman Guide (First)

tamer

Legend
So...yes I know Kore has someone making a guide....but I just want to voice my opinion on specs, proffs, tips, and talents.

TALENTS

So first off...Resto. Honestly...don't go resto. You probably already know this....but shammy heals are crap. They take long and they barely heal 200. Yes Earth Shield is cool and all.....but IMO, Resto is not the way to go.

Now...for Enhancement: So far...I say pretty good. I see tons of twink shamans rolling 19 Enh shamans lately. If the Enh shaman can keep you near him with Searing Totem up.....that can be some pretty good flurries of damage right there. Survival rate...I would say pretty good but I am Elemental so i wouldn't know too much.

Elemental >:)....So I personally LOVE Elemental. Sure lightning bolt is a pretty long cast.....but when it crits...it doesn't play around. Over 400 damage of pure lightning. Thunderstorm....restores some decent mana AND when crits...does roughly 360 damage. Plus it sends everyone around you flying. (dont do around hunters)

PROFFESIONS

Enhancement: Since I am Elemental...I wouldn't know much...but I would say either Skin and Herb...or Eng and Herb. Skin and Herb cuz if you pop LB...you're gonna swing pretty fast...and you would LOVE getting crits on those fast swings. Eng and Herb so if you dont have the Fishing Hat....you can just settle for the goggles. Also the bombs I guess could help you stay near them and Herb for Lifeblood when you use bomb to just flurry the mess outta them.

Elemental: IMO go Herb and Skin. You want those Lighting Bolt crits very bad...so I would try to get as much crit as I can as long as I still have other good stats. Now for the Herb part...LB is VERY helpful obviously. Pretty fast Lightning Bolt casts if you get your Herbing high enough.

SPECS

Enhancement: If you had Skin/Herb....I would put 3 in Focused Strikes, 2 in Improved Shields, and 1 in Flurry. Get a crit, pop LB and you will be swinging hard and fast. Either 1 in Flurry, Totemic Reach, or Ancestral Swiftness. They all seem very useful...and you could be ahead of the game with the GW buff of Ancestral Swiftness. Totemic Reach would help you to NOT worry about having to pop totems every second against a kiter...and would really help with Earthbind Totem.

Elemental: Heres what I did: 3 in Concussion and 3 in Acuity because you always want that Crit and damage... I wouldn't do Convection since Ele shamans rarely ever go oom. Reverberation sounds nice too...but since you only have 6 talents...and if you put one in there...its only a .5 sec reduction off Shock spells which isn't all that much to me anyways. I guess Call of Flame would be okay if you are THAT confident with Searing Totem...but I wouldn't go in there. Elemental Warding sounds okay...probably the best of the 2nd tier IMO...but I suggest going 3 in Acuity and 3 in Concussion.

TIPS

Enhancement: Since my shaman is NOT Enhancement...I can only guess. Basically...against a hunter that loves to kite and keeps running back...don't go after him. Start running away. This will mess with the hunter's brain and he will probably go after you....if he does...somehow...surprise him. Possibly with your allies or just come charging at him when he does not expect it. When you are in melee range of hunter....pop EB totem and Searing...and start hammering on him. Eventually he will Disengage and go flying back. Then he will probably Conc Shot you. If you have improved GW...i would pop that and trink...but other than that i would probably run back and trick him again....Unless you know you can take him. But if he can't get away from you, pop LB and just kick his ass.

Elemental: I'm still getting used to my new spec...but I'm pretty good with it. A good tip is to just stay back and spam Lightning Bolt. Pop all totems. If a melee friend is gettin whooped...Thunderstorm everyone around him. That can save the day. Against an EFC....try getting in front of him...Thunderstorm, and start hammering him down. You should mess him up. Always pop EB either at the spot where you are almost positive he will land...or right by you so he can't get past you. Also...against rogues...this is so funny. Most rogues are kinda dumb and when they sap you...they don't get far enough away. If you see that they don't move far enough when sapped, pop trink very fast and Thunderstorm right away.....I would even make a macro of that because it has worked tremendously for me.

GOOD LUCKY GUYS! I hope this wasn't bad for my first guide. Thanks!

Edit: For those who miss Shaman heals from the old days and want healing surge for 19s....DON'T. Just think how OP we would be in Ele and Enh...we would never die. Yes I agree our heal now is crap...yes I agree the heal should be shorter or a bit stronger...but I DO NOT agree that we need Healing Surge.

Edit: Check out my Elemental Gear Guide! http://www.twinkinfo.com/forums/15-19-bracket/16754-ele-shaman-gear.html

you obviously don't know what **'s** means. just sayin

Yeah it's alright, just please if you post an ele guide, at least have near BiS ele gear.... namely switching bracers to uninsured bracers, using merger boots, using stillwater's signet, personally I use the satchel belt (5 stam 5 agi 5 crit) as ele, since crit is the most important ele stat imo. My armory is a good guide for people interested in ele. Great guide though! :)
