Model changer?

Hey, I was watching some WoW videos and saw some alliance PvPing as an orc and vice versa. That orc warrior was level 39 but he had full s3 gear.

I wanted to try that but I dont know cany good mod to do that, anyone have an idea?

Thanks :]

that's the name.. WoW ModelChanger.exe. but it's illegal, it wasn't for like. 6 months ago, but Blizzard figured some people abused it. like.. making gnomes to taurens so they could be targeted easier n stuff, idk, all I know is that it's illegal now :p

anyways, did some googling. if you wanna change your models; download modelchanger.exe. im not gna post a link to it, but should be easy to google now that you know what to search for.

this is done in less than 2 minutes if you know how to do it. still, you have to make sure to not fuck up things. so here are the details:

1) copy (not move) file "Epvp_Modelchanger.exe" to

/%installdir%/cache/WDB/enGB/

(deDE bei deutschem client)

2) copy&paste file "itemcache.wdb" -> backup

(you're best off copying the backup to a seperate folder on the desktop. the blizzard likes to delete backups and modelchancer executables on patch updates)

3) browse to "http://wow.allakhazam.com/"

search for the itemname of the item you are wearing that is supposed to chance models using the left input field.

let's say: Shoulderpads of Assassination.

take a look at the URL:

it reads there: "witem=27776" < this is the number of interest.

fire up "Epvp_Modelchanger.exe" and choose option 1: change a item. enter the number from above. in this case, the number of the assassination shoulderpads are 27776.

hit enter and check the name appearing.

now the program asks for the model id from the target item (the models and textures that are going to replace your current item).

to find out this model id, use the search field from allakhazam again. search for the target item.

in this case, leet's say we want shoulderpads of assassination look like bladed shoulderpads of the merciless (the rogue shoulders from karazhan).

when you found the item in allakhazam, the page-inbuild tooltip will appear again, showing the stats of the item.

beyond there are 4 links listed: Item History, XML, Lite, TXT.

click XML!

now some large text will appear. hit STRG F to pop up the search function of your browser (sometimes its also F3.

search for the term "displayinfo".

note that mozilla firefox e.g. will not find this term for some reasons. search manually or switch to internet explorer.

the display-info of the bladed merciless shoulders is 43511. this is the number i now type into the Epvp_Modelchanger.exe which still asks for the model id ^^

after typing the number, hit enter. when he tells you that the models are changed, hit enter again.

now, DO NOT close the program yet, 'cos nothing has been saved yet. hit 2 and return two times. now close the program.

4) start up wow. NOTE that the changes are NOT shown in the character selection. you have to log in to see the changes.

as usually, everybody with the assassination shoulderpads would now have the merciless shoulders.

I don't know if Glitchy's Model Editing Suite still works, but you can change whatever you want with that... items, characters, you name it.

For item edits, you don't need a Model Edit Fix (MEF), for actual character race changes, you do.

Is it legal?

None of this is technically "legal", however these changes can only be seen on client side, and you have a very slim chance of getting caught unless you decide to model change terrain.
