Mining while flying in and outside DF zones

Am i missin' anything from patch notes?
Can we now go mining with any flying mount in old school flying style without bein dismounted in and outside Df areas?
Tested on Cataclysm Twlight Highland (1 entire zone run) notcapped cata mining and Azure Span area (Df whole area), capped df mining skill not specializations.. (current 'n cata timelines)
(note i do not have 35 in that specialization from Df allowing to stay mounted while mining...I have 11 points into Mining Process...)
note : u get dismounted while attempting to collect expeditionary bagz (df areas)...

Class: Paladin, mostly used mount : Compass rose (but pretty much all i've tried are good as well).
 
Noticed it as well. I was mining mithril ore in Badlands and was surprised I wasn't getting unmounted if I was clicking on the ore node while in the air. I do have mining process 35/35
 
Tried with another lvl 20 char with just Df mining 1, it doesn't work in df areas nor elsewhere... I guess they messed up with how "mining process is meant to be working as specialization" it would be nice with any1 could try this with 0 in mining process and then with just "1" point into it.
 
I tested in Tanaris, and I got dismounted (35/35). It might be specific to cata zones.

Side note, I just figured out I have been saying "Tanarsis" for the last 20 years.

EDIT: My mistake, I missed the reference to old school flying. I can mine while mounted if I remain in mid-air.

I can mine Tanaris without dismounting... tested right now (tbc tw), tested with current timeline too (on the very same mithril vein as well).
 
With another char with just classic mining 2/300 and cataclysm mining 75/75 i can still mine Tanaris flying (not Df thought still need to learn Df mining).
 
It seems at least while I was playing last night, random because in AV battlefield it dismounts when mining near center but in other spots some other nodes there no dismount, then in Waking Shores I was getting a dismount but other nodes not dismounting. I went to Legion, and it seemed back and forth.
 
are you hovering over the nodes or landing? make sure you are hovering (your mount is not touching the ground and shows flying animation)

Good point in default skyriding mode but in AV its only ground mounts, but I will retry tonight as I can land on the node in skyriding and I wasn't dismounted on my Shaman during the Enchantment artifact quest chain.
