Savior of the Lifeless
Mage, The Ultimate CC
The following is a guide to becoming a level 19 mage, the ultimate in crowd control. With the ability to sheep a healer, stop a zerg, or just slow a reckless attacker, as a Mage, you are irreplaceable in a premade.
With a Mage at 19 you have two real options in ways to gear. You can go for glass cannon(I will be referring to this as GC) or crowd control(I will be referring to this as CC). I personally like having a CC Mage on my side and hate going against them.
Gear Selection
Head
Lucky Fishing Hat Is going to be what you want to get via catching a certain fish during the stv fishing tourney.
Green Tinted Goggles Will work till you get fishing hat.
Neck
Thick Bronze Necklace
Voice Amplification Modulator
I personally would use the Thick Bronze, but if your having lots of trouble with some Shamen, Blood Elfs, or Warrior's you can give Voice Amp Mod a try out.
Shoulders
Talbar Mantle Is great for a balanced set.
Ghostly Mantle A Horde only item, Is cool to carry around if your like me and like to have many options. No true use since spirit isn't too affective at 19.
With the addition of items in 3.1, You can thank your local tailors for their new items.
Double-stitched Woolen Shoulders for the Hp gain. This would do well for your stam/cc set.
Reinforced Woolen Shoulders Will be the best for your spell power/glass cannon gear set. Or as a backup for your stam set until you can grab a DSWS.
Back
Miner's Cape
Engineer's Cloak
Horde only Traquillien Champion's Cloak
Battle Healer's Cloak/ Caretaker's Cape Via Wsg Marks and Honor.
With the addition of items in 3.1, you can thank your local tailors for their new items.
Spidersilk Drape The hit is beast.
With the addition of items in 3.3, you can que up for a random instance and receive a Satchel of Helpful Goods which may include a cloak. Now this Cloak has a chance to have any of the following stats; 8stam, 4agi/4stam/8sp, 5str/3stam/2crit, 5str/5stam, 4str/stam/4def, 4stam/4int/1mp5, 5agi/5stam, 4int/2stam/4spir, 4str/4stam/4crit, 4stam/4int/4sp.
Enchants depend on preference, but I would suggest +5 Resist or 70 Armor.
Chest
Horde only Inferno Robe TBC enchantable.
Tree Bark Jacket
Bloody Apron I would use this more for a CC set since so much HP means more survivability.
Robe of the Moccasin
I would most definitely use 4 stats or 50hps(Only if going for max HP) unless I could get myself an Inferno Robe, I would either get 6 stats or 150hp.
Wrist
Crystalline Cuffs if you are going for more of a GC build.
Mindthrust Bracers
2/2 or 4Stat bracers for more of a balanced or hp/int heavy build.
Enchants I suggest will depend on if you are going to do a GC or CC build, the only options would be: 9 Stam, 15 healing, or 7int.
Hands
Jutebraid Gloves(Horde quest reward), Gold-flecked Gloves, and Serpent Gloves are all the same gloves but with different skins, so up to you. I would use any of these for my GC.
Magefist Gloves are my favorite for stats of the 2 glove options your have. So I would use these for CC.
Enchants you have the option of putting on your gloves are 10 Haste(My CC Option) or 16 Spell Power.
Belt
7 Spell Power for GC.
Keller's Girdle for CC.
With the addition of items in 3.3, you can que up for a random instance and receive a Satchel of Helpful Goods which may include a belt. Now this Belt has various stats to offer, and they could be any of the following; 10stam, 6stam/6int, 5int/3stam/5spir, 5stam/5int/6sp, 3stam/5int/6sp, 2stam/4int/8sp.
Pants
9 Spell Power pants for GC.
5/5 Eagle pants or Darkweave Breeches, will work for a balanced set.
Sacred Burial Trousers a Horde only option via Battle of Hillsbrad, are going to be my favorite due to the fact of the Int and the SP.
With 3.1 brings the removal of leg kits, so your only option here is LW Armor Patches, and the best being, Heavy Armor Kit, which has to be done the same way as before.
Boots
Spidersilk Boots
Enchants are easy, you want Minor speed unless going for a stam set, then you want 7Stam, another under the radar enchant is 5 Hit.
Rings
Alliance only Seal of Wrynn
Alliance only Minor Channeling Ring
Horde only Seal of Sylvanas
Horde only Invoker's Signet
Lavishly Jeweled Ring
Blood Ring
3/3 Ring of the Eagle
Alliance pvp ring option isLorekeeper's Ring
Horde pvp ring option is Advisor's Ring
Trinkets
Insignia of the Horde/Alliance
Arena Grand Master(AGM)
Minor Recombobulator
