Lvl 20 twink frost mage help...

Hey I'm completely new here and i have a bunch of questions about f2p twinking.

First of all, is it worth getting the PvP Boa's or should i just go for the PvE?

Is there any way to take down a hunter (20-24) as a frost mage? I seem to be getting absolutely decimated every time a hunter targets me.

How can i avoid shield strike hitting me for 700 every time? I do pretty well against warriors but they seem to ss me from like 5 meters away. and it doesn't help that my Frost Nova's and Sheep NEVER hit.

I like playing as a mage but it seems like im at the bottom of the food chain. I can help take down healers with poly and CS but i can't do the dmg to take them down on my own. I can take rogues 1v1 if they don't 1 shot me with ambush.. but that happens most of the time. Any advice would be helpful and if there's any gear I'm missing (other than boa's) please link it.

Here's a link to my char: Chaelsonnen @ Jubei'Thos - Community - World of Warcraft

also if anyone could tell me why my gifs are not working that would also be helpful:cool:

hello friend :)

First off you want a mixture of PVE and PVP gear, once you do lots of BG's you will get PVP gear and find life will become more easy :)

Save up Honor and get the loom staff first (3500) Honor. You can purchase that from Stormwind near the dummies :)

Hunters have a more intense burst than Mage's so i most of the time get killed by them, however i do kill a lot of hunters, 1 due to my Gear, and 2 because a lot of Hunters are noobs :) so what i do is get right in their grill and pretty much attack them on top of them.

typical rotation i use for hunters..

Polymorph
Frostbolt (for buff on pet)
Pet freeze

then i use this macro:

/cast Frostbolt
/use Presence of Mind
/cast Frostfire Bolt

that their is the most important macro for burst for Mages. You should have Presence of Mind as a Talent always (Press N for talents) (you can unlearn talents at trainer)

Once you have the loom staff for spell power, that rotation will down most Noob hunters. Probably get ganked by good hunters cause they are more OP than mages.

For Warriors and most Melee Characters you just Kite and Blink on charges etc... heres an example of how to deal with Protection Warriors (sorry UI isnt on) WoW [MOP] 5.2 - Lolîpop [Frost Mage] vs Bloodslicer [Protection Warrior] - YouTube

Also here is my Character: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/wildhammer/Lolîpop/simple

You should get the gear i have if you want to stand a chance in BG's. (Hit is kinda screwed at the moment)

The head piece you get from 100 engineering and the necklace from 50 Jewelcrafting. You will need to get shit loads of mining done. Here is a link for mining routes that are the best:

WoW Mining Guide 1-600 - Mining Leveling Guide - Mining Maps

Mage is one of those characters that get Ganked so hard when you start off, please my friend have patience, it takes time to get good at mage. When you are good it will pay off :)

Any more issues Message me and i am more than happy to help :) in the mean time, here are some macro's you will want to use: (also use keybinding's at some point as well) :)

#showtooltip
/cast Freeze

^ that is your pet's Freeze Spell, that macro means you can put it on your action bars :)

/focus

/clearfocus

^ This is essential for this next macro (2 v 1) situations. (also Keybind them two macros to something you can press easily, i use T [focus] and G [clear focus])

#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cast [@focus,exists][@target] Counterspell

^ this macro is the same as Counterspell except it Counterspell's your Focus target if you have one.

This is important because if you are, lets say, facing a warrior and a shammy, you want to set the shammy as your focus (healer) and Polymorph the shammy twice, while Freeze, Blink, Frostbolt rotation on the warrior (and staying out of the way of his nasty shield slam) at this point you will probably have the warrior at half of his Health. The shammy will try and heal the warrior, You will see this on your focus Portrait, you then use the Counterspell macro and it silences the shammy while you are still bursting down the Warrior. This will save you a few seconds of farting about and will determine whether you die or not. Again, this is stuff you will get better at as you progress.

I hope i have helped :) like i said, message me if you have any more Questions. Also i will posting Video's up of my Game play in BG's so keep an eye out. :) in the mean time, Watch some of Nevmind's Videos on you tube. just type in nevmind WoW. :)

Good luck! fellow Frost Mage!

I'd say get PvP BoA's for more resi.

And as mage you are one of the weakest classes, but also one of the classes with most CC, so you should use it well and read the situation. For instance if you're against an experienced 24 hunter, I'd say poly him and run, but if you're against a hunter that has no clue whatsoever, go for it, and use lolipops strategy.

I usually find mages most useful in either D if you're frost, or O if you're arcane or frost too, mage's might be the worst class for midfield farming. But use your spells wisely, learn when to sheep healers, and save your CS for crucial interrupts, and if the efc is kiting your O, try and slow his healers and hope for the efc not to realise that his healers are gone before it's is too late :)
