Looking to create a Ret pally

Not bothered by what kind of state they're in, just fancy playing one after playing a rogue for so long.

As you can imagine I'm after gear suggestions. I've checked out Symphonies over in the library, and will likely mirror a lot of their gear. What I'd like to know is what to use seeing as:
  • I don't have access to Chausses of Westfall (I have a pair of foreman's leggings i'd assume would be next BiS?)
  • Seal of Wrynn (would I go Argas, Demon Band or something else?) and what to use as trinkits until I can grab a (or a pair) of AGM's.
Which leads me to my next question;

  • which race would be ideal? I'll be rolling Alli and have non interest in faction swapping this time.

BoA pants come out in like a month. For your ring, it depends on what you need, but there are plenty of viable options. For race, play the available races and see which one feels the best to you; don't base it off of racials.
 
there are some new boots in RFC now, they have 3 str, 5 stam, and 3 hit. best of all both factions can get them

I haven't created the toon yet so, but i know how/where to grab everything I'd need on Alli side. I guess it could come down to grabbing these new boots instead of the bravo company ring and taking the str/stam argas instead?

As for race, should I bother with dranei for the 1% hit or jump human for the trinkit slot?

I would make a human and use the exact gear I use on my paladin (Watch signature). I know that u didn't want to hear about the ret state but I have to warn u: they are trash. Judgement almost hit harder than templars and that damage is terrible. :/
 
I've heard bad things about ret pallies at max level as well, which makes me think they may get some sort of buff in the near (next couple months) future. I've also never rolled a pala tink before. I'm also not fussed about saving Argas for if I went holy. I'm not keen on fotm classes (says the guy with the rogue) and I'd probably just re-roll, it's only 19 levels after all.
 
don't do it

i rolled ret for like 5 games yesterday

Crusader strike crits like 200, TV crits like 350 with crusader.... the only good thing is we are more mobile but we do shit for damage

I might still be logged out in my set though if you want to check it out (in my sig)
 
Ret makes me sad right now. I think I got a Crusader Strike for 145 some nights ago...rofl. I mean you can do capable dps, but don't try to 1v1 a healer as you won't win.

Yeah I already have +100 hp on the chest from when I was making a prot warr fc, lol.

Also, what are people's thoughts on Helm of Might vs Valor?
I'd assume some expertise would be good, but is it worth the crit/hit drop?
