Level and stat squish for F2P

There will not be a lvl squish so most likely not i guess?
Maybe we get access to TWW content and they have plans to change Exiles Reach so there is that.

We won't know how it will effect us until the prepatch PTR goes up. Right now they are testing 11.2.5. Releases are usually eight weeks apart, so next will be 11.2.7 which is the leveling changes, then it will be 12.0 going up for testing. So roughly Halloween or early November it will be up and we can start to see how things are going to change.
 
blizzard went insane on hyperinflation of gear in warcraft TWW expac, no other expac ever reached or even has come close in the level of stat inflation. i see stuff in traded chat, one piece of gear with stats like 39000 stam to the point that two pieces of TWW gear has more stats than all you gear from a previous expac. imo it's stupid and insane..

many thought the hyperinflation of gear in SL was too much compared to and after the squish of BFA, many high level players were saying the gear in DF had also jumped too much, and were expecting a squish only two expacs after a major squish. blizz blew that out of the water, gone were the 300% to 500% increases and went 3000-4000%+. i see no valid excuse for this, IOH "we want to make gear meaningful" etc etc is getting lame

with that kind of jump, retail WOW was on track for single pieces of gear in Midnite expac to reach 1mil+ each in stamina stat alone
 
end of BFA level squish that took 120s to 50, also squished gear for 50s and all the way down to us. i have former 19s that are now 20s, but still have some old 19 twink pieces that were lowered to ilvl 15, few pieces 18-22. it was a total shaft. 70's lowered to 27 got it worst... gear lowered into the ilvl 30s, some req lvl 30. it was a total wipe

good thing i had all boa's and went to MOP to get gloves, belt, bracer, and boots from vendor, for a restarting point

after player complaints into SL blizz realized the gear level curve was off with little difference of gear from like level 20 to 50. they redid gear but fixed nothing we already had

enchants will get slammed
 
Worst case scenario is that we'll need to regrind gear again.. but retail basically has to do this every content patch, and not having to grind gear every few months is the main upside to being a twink.

Best case scenario is that a wider range of enchants/gems/transmogs/ect become usable.

At minimum with each new expansion the first half of the old expansion becomes playable for F2P, and I'm personally like it that way when it comes to how I play WoW because when you play one expansion behind most of the time-gating mechanics have been removed or sped up. You also get to experience the content at your own pace instead of the pressure to level and gear up ASAP.

From everything I've seen there'll be an ilvl squish only, not a level squish. I would expect a level squish in the next expansion. But that's just a guess.

Yeah, the SL level/ilvl squish wasn't pretty. Just the general ilvl you had was really low. For example, my alts used to all get the 2 socket boots from Shadow Labs at ilvl 50 because then you could get +18% move speed from the 2 gems (+3% and +5%, now useless as they're a constant +Speed) and Minor Speed. The gems were ilvl 50+ and Minor Speed was ilvl <=50.

In early SL, this meant doing the quest at level 44 or 45 to get ilvl 50 boots. That's why I remember how long the ilvls were. Now you're getting ilvl in the 200s in the 40s. I can't remember when that changed. Was it still SL? Or DF?

In DF the twink meta was WoD dungeon gear that you hoped procced Warforged and with a socket and secondary. IIRC at level 10 it was ilvl 42/56 (non-WF/WF). This got nerfed hard retroactively in the TWW prepatch to ilvl 19/24 (IIRC), which was obviously useless.

Now at 10 you get TW drops at ilvl 56, which I think is a big part of the problem with twinks being OP. I have no idea what Blizzard is doing. I don't think they know. Remember too some months ago TW gear got nerfed for new drops only, only to be retroactively reversed a few months later.

The moral of the story is that as a twink, expect to get nerfed. It's going to happen. Repeatedly. It may efven get rolled back. The meta will shift. With the ilvl squish, it'll make some thing better and some things much, much worse. That's a big reason why I don't spend a huge amount of time to farm socket and tertiary procs on, say, TBC dungeon gear because at some point it will get nerfed. Just like WoD dungeon drops did.
