Laptop Help?

Awesome

<The Awesome>
My laptop isn't connecting to the internet at all right now and I suck at computers. My iPhone is connecting, my brother's Laptop is working, the desktop (which I am using right now) is working, but that ONE laptop just isn't connecting to the internet.

His laptop could be working because it's closer to the router, a Linksys E3200, and my laptop is upstairs. We have a booster to amplify the signal, and usually we don't really need it, it just speeds up our internet a bit.

Yesterday our internet totally gave out on every device in our house, and we called a Charter guy, who fixed it temporarily. He unplugged the phone line (we don't use a landline, it was just sucking up money and bandwidth), a few cable lines from boxes I never use, and went outside and did some shit on some wires. I have no idea what he did, I suck at that kind of stuff.

When he left, everything was fine for the rest of the day - the internet seemed fine - faster, even - and everyone could connect with ease (my sister, my brother and myself). But now, a day later, everything BUT the upstairs laptops - mine and my sister's - is working. Our iPhones are connecting, my brother's laptop, the desktop, etc is working, it's just the TWO laptops.

We think it's a problem with the router, but like I said, we know next to nothing about computers - it's my friend that usually comes over to help us that set them up for us.

If anyone here knows much about laptops and routers or anything, then please help me out here!

Did you change the router at all or did you experience any type of electrical surge? Tried a power cycle of your modem and router?

Is the SSID (name of your network) visible when you are under wireless connections on your laptop? He may have physically reset the router to default settings and your laptop is trying to connect via the old settings.
Alot of laptops have toggle buttons to enable/disable wifi. Have you checked yours?

Is the computer turned on?

Upstairs laptops eh...so move them downstairs?:D:D

Is the computer turned on?

I can't find the 'on' switch, it's usually just on when I get home.

In all seriousness, none of this is helping... the SSID is showing, and I do have wifi toggled on physically via the switch, and so far not even moving the laptops downstairs is working :p

I need it fixed, else I have to share the desktop with my bro! >.<
