How do you recruit new people ?

Usually I just talk to them a bit about the game and maybe do a duel or two to be their friend, then ask if they want to know more people to play with. That approach never failed for me, once you get friendly with em you explain how to download it and stuff. When trying to recruit never ask if they want to get better or refer to their skill level in any way, they will usually ask later on themselves or will be more open to being helped once they are in the addon.

Back when I did recruiting in-game for Aerie Peak, I just befriended people, and then let them know:

"You know there's actually a whole lot of other trial account users on this server, and we all have an add-on that we can actually TALK TO EACH OTHER like guild chat!"

Humans are social creatures. The possibility of communicating with others and belonging to a group is often the strongest motivation possible.

Edit: P.S.: One of the people I befriended and recruited was our very own Rhaellia. Still consider you my best wowfriend, sweetie.

You invite them home for dinner and firetruck eachother. Then you blackmail them that you'll send his/her nude photos to his/her friends if he/she doesn't join TI and get F2Paddon.

As title says, I'd like to know how do you recruit people you meet in game. What do you say to convince them to join TI and especially to make them install the F2Paddon ?

It's actually quite easy ...the initiation ( atleast on Aggramar ) is this :

- you have to find and pet Maratian somewhere in Outland while he's sleeping
- you never ever drink alone In Halaa
- you have to trade words with Cripz on Spanish
- you have to kill that gay NPC Gamon in Ogri without a help from your healer
- and last but not least.......brace yourself........when you find schools of fish on DMF first you notify me of their location!

These are the requirements we all go through to be a part of something bigger then ourselves.......

I ask if they're a trial. If yes, i then ask if they know about the trial account addon, if no, and they're interested, i either point them in the right direction to download it, or i'll walk them through how addons work. I hate trying ( and failing sometimes) to explain how addons work and how to install them, mostly because i don't remember where all the files are on older windows operating systems, and i know nothing at all about other operating systems. Typically, if they're interested, they are really grateful you even spoke to them, let alone helped them out.

Edit, Also, like Kincaide said, if you lead with "There is a whole community of trial accounts that chat, premade for BGs and run dungeons" they will be pretty interested. Most people don't like playing alone. You will run into fully geared twinks who know what they are doing, but still don't wish to join, which is -okay- too.

At one point I had a highly popular sticky thread that walked new people through all the steps one-by-one. It got unstickied but never got moved to the Guides section (nor did I get guide credits :( ) It is located here. It might need a tiny bit of updating but I still think it's a great resource for brand new folks.

Note to mods: I'd love to see this utilized as a sticky in the Guides section. If it needs any updating in order for that to happen, just let me know.

Hmm , that's interesting. it looks like it was stickied like you were saying and then unstickied at some point. I wonder why, that's a pretty helpful guide.

Well I found it easy to meet new people in bg's, daily DMF quests or events like the fishing extravaganza.
If I'm not mistaking, the F2P addon adds automatically to your friends list, the people who are using the addon and are online at the moment, when you first use it.
