Pretty much what the title says, how do FTP store money now that warband bank is disabled? What item can you buy on vendors that give you the highest resale value?

Are you a blizzard insider trying to prevent us f2p from stacking cash?

Elixir of Tongues is the most popular due to its high base price combined with high stack size meaning high value storage per bag/bank slot. If you aren't using your reagent bank for much, high value vendor mats serve a similar function.

It's inherently a pretty lossy process, but it beats having the gold vanish into thin air.

Orboreal Shard from vendors in Oribos. Cost 125g ea, stacks to 1000 (37,500g resell for a full stack)
Immortal Shard from any enchanting vendor. Costs 7.2 - 9g depending on your rep with vendor. Stacks in 1000, resell for 2250g per stack
*Can buy other profession reagents from vendors as well. Profession not required.
Elixir of Tongues from Fizzi Liverzapper in the Underbelly of Dalaran(Legion). Cost 23.96-29.95g depending on your Kirin'Tor rep, Stacks in 200, resells for 1497.5g per stack

The point is that if you're approaching the 1,000 limit and aren't saving for anything specific, you can buy something expensive to resell later if you need money. You lose 75% of what you spend immediately (things generally sell for 25% of their sale price, ignoring rep discounts), but that's better than losing 100% of the gold you'd get over the cap.

yes but you can have alot of items that vendor that technically make you have gold beyond 1000, i had a fleet of 20s that had stacks of chest items from mechagon, etherium thread stacks (left over when gold limit was 10), and other stacks of items purchased from vendors. if you cap at 1000 and ignore it further gold is gone. buying the vendor stuff you lose too when you sell it, but a least you get some back and store gold that way.

when the warband went live, all the gold my F2P and Vet 20s had along with vendoring for more gold, i was able to buy 3 tabs, and add around 55Kg to the warband

gold is so fast to get now, yesterday i did three dailies in SL and reward was 269G range on each, dungeons and bosses add quick gold. i have been lately going to older gear vendors and buying gear which brings down gold fast, i select ALL option that way i can buy any gear, using a ench to DE those and learn the tmog

During the last free play time, I was able to sell my Elixir of Tongues stacks on the AH for close to full price.

I don't know if people have had similar experiences with Orboreal Shard, or Immortal Shard, but that could be reason enough to choose Elixir of Tongues as your gold sink of choice.

Obviously irrelevant if you are F2P who doesn't get free game time.
