First off, I want readers to know I'm posting this roughdraft of the gear now while I have little time. I'll update later with talents and links.

Yes, I want criticism and advice. No, I won't get a better shield anytime soon because the better shields cost like 2000g on my server and don't show up on the ah except once a month maybe.

Take away my shield, and you should have a set with higher stam than the one you're currently looking at.

Although you're getting Silvershell Leggings and can't get a Wall of the Dead? Curious on how your server's twink economics run...

Hi there,

Thought i would come and post since i am a fellow 49 Prot Paladin too(built around WSG Flag Running). You seem to want a little something different than i do, but i have put a lot of time and effort into my gear. Armory Ranchero for gear and spec. It depends what you want to do... if you want to just build a straight up set of stamina based gear that still provides you with enough strength (block rating) then look how i am set up.

If i were you i would take the time to do the quest line in ST to grab the Avenguard Helm, the 25 stam on it plus the 100hp head ench is amazing. BRD coffer runs will provide you with (Hopefully) a Fire Opal Necklace of the bear...(double stam stats) mine is "of the monkey" but thats okay for me... agility = armor. At'alai girdle of the bear (double stam stats), The BOA shoulders are better than anything we could get presently... with the 30 stam and resil shoulder ench (if its still avail post patch this week). From the ST troll bosses you should get the At'alai boots of stamina (double stam stats) - with boars speed, dark iron ring of the bear... also from coffer runs, deadmans hand from SM - 10 stam with the CC effect on it (amazing ring). Trinkets Nifty Stopwatch (30min CD), Uthers Strength, Alliance trink, rune of duty, and of course... mark of the chosen. Weapon wise, i use a 1h with 11stam on it, and put an intel ench on it (need that mana for decursing yourself, BoF)

When a battle standard is popped down and i am holding the flag... buffed up i have 10,226hp. i try to make sure when i am running to try to do little 180 turns, jumping and flicking my toon facing backward then forward to mitigate some of the melee dmg (since we cannot block, dodge, parry from behind... majority of where the hits come from if flag running) This helps a lot. Deadman's hand will slow people behind you with the CC effect it has.

Dont forget the herbalism. 1200 HoT at 375, i am still working on mine... too many things to work on at once! I have mining 375, and gain 300hp from that. Also play a dranei for the 785ish HoT racial.

Also, your sheild is just fine :)

The horde bitch and complain about the alliance having a prot flag carrier, so... i must be doing something right. Good luck with yours, its fun as hell. Cant see your spec atm cause i am at work and "game" sites are blocked. Check out my toon and you will see the stuff i have and how i speced, maybe give you some ideas.

Hope it helps and have fun!!!

lol i was thinking the same thing. I paid 2200g for silvershell leggings a few weeks back... wall of the dead is the perfect sheild for us and usually i see them around 150g.

Updated the gear list on the first page to reflect changes that have happened since I wrote the thread. And btw [item]Silvershell Leggings[/url] won't sell for over 200g on my server. Mok'Nathal isn't a huge pvp server.

All I gotta say is DAMN. Not only have you put through a hell of a lot more work than I'd even consider (all those runs for the correct "of the" blues) but you did a great job at what your were aiming for. For example, I was planning on getting [item]Vice Grips[/item] of the Bear, but my friend and I got sick of all those ZF runs lol.

But anyway great gear examples, I don't think I'll be doing as many upgrades as I could on Gradius since he's gonna level in a few weeks, but I'll definitely use your examples as a template for my next 49 twink (probably a warrior).

Warriors are awesome, but again it depends on what you want from your toon. I wanted to solely flag carry. I also have a +spell dmg warlock that i can DPS and own people on... so wanted something different. I enjoy SO much the challenge of being a sneaky bastard and being able to get that flag back to the base... albeit your only as great as your healers when going against pre-mades and stuff, its worth it to be sittin on the edge of your seat the whole run back decursing yourself as fast as you can, BoF, keeping up your healer etc... and then say "how the fuk did i just live through that...!"

Have to decide what exactly you want to do. Prot warriors do a lot of damage but not the best for carrying a flag. A pally is better than a druid... i can keep a druid easily from going anywhere with simply keeping a CoEX on him (pisses them off greatly :p ) with the utility on a pally to rebuff yourself when purged (you will get purged), to BoF yourself, decurse, heal, LoH... list goes on, IMO its the best class for the purpose.

But i have to say, i have been having an absolute blast on this toon and have worked real hard to make it the best i can, ive had a LOT of help from guild members and my BF... and there is more work to be done... loads more work. The QQ'ing makes it all worth it!

Just a quick question, how many keys did it take you to get a decent fire opal neck? I'm on around 200 keys and none so far. I'm discouraged, but I'm not stopping until I run out.

I have two accounts so it's much easier for me... not as fast as the warlock summoning method, but slowly does it right?

Hmmm i have lost count.... but i just spam in IF that if anyone has any relic keys they wanna give me, that i would take them. Usually i offer 50s each for them. Its worth it tho to keep trying for one.

as far as how long it takes to do a run, not so bad... since we figured we can stealth a rogue all the way up to the coffer room with the keys and have him open and check all the boxes. Then with a second toon, go and clear up to the coffer room if something good drops. Just have to remember that the stealther in the coffer room has to keep the loot box open long enough for the clear and then to run the twink in. No xp gain. simple stuff. Just time consuming.

Oh yea and I wanted to mention, as much as I, too, enjoy flagrunning, being pure stamina won't work for me :p

I like to stop and duke it out with the locals. The dps side of prot pallys can be pretty fun, too.

you'd be surprised how nasty reckoning can be when you got seal of light and judgment of light going... rogues just /wrists against me usually

Prot Paladins are pretty much anti-melee. Depending on how well a caster plays, they might have some difficulty.

casters can be a pain in the ass. pretty much my only tools against spell dps are my +resist auras and improved righteous fury

Actually, Caster class's are the ones who do the most dmg to prot pallies (including ret pallies), we are unable to spec into the talent that decreases spell dmg taken... melee classes do VERY minimal dmg. If you are running from melee across the field for instance... its good to do the little 180 turns as you jump in the air and turn back to running forward when you land. This will mitigate some dmg (you will block, parry or dodge some of those attacks when you turn to face them for a moment).

If your going to fight a rogue for instance and you cannot run... ie: your standing on the flag spawn spot for the cap (we all know what happens when the flag is returned and you CAN cap, but you can't cause your too damn far away and some other nub picks it up... and people yell and curse at you blah). I back myself into the corner so no one can get behind me (rogues grr) and.. keep down a consecrate and judge what i can.

:D
