getting your tank ready at 19

Trying to get a good set of tanking gear ready for 3.2 so I can be an epic tank. I"m thinking with retribution aura and [item]Fiery Blaze Enchantment[/item] a pally might not be so bad at holding a pack of mobs at least in deadmines. My first question is what weapon to put the fiery blaze chant on. Second, what other gear/ chants should I have. I'm guessing that hit will be important for bosses so... Savage trodders with +5hit or Silver linked with +5 hit? +hit cape and rings? This way I can keep most of my armor without needing to get the belt. Any other suggestions?

Please visit the PvE section to discuss this. I have already put up chardev's for a Priest, Shaman, Warrior, and Rogue in that section. Feel free to contribute it there.

I believe that Fiery Blaze would be wasted on anything but a druid.

is there a cap to the amount of hit we want for gnomer? what is it?

39% DW, 20% otherwise.

i'll go to those forums in a sec, but a few other questions while im here;

tanking: are we more worried about threat or hp/mitigation?

if we are worried about threat, does that make it worth it to get the rogue heirlooms with hit for the extra hit rating and ditch the other stats?

edit:

tanks can hit 20% pretty easy with heirlooms, just need

4 - shoulders

6 - chest

5 - boots

4 - ring

3 - belt

10 - elixir

4 - cloak

puts you at 36, just over 20%. so is that what you want to do then, making druids the ideal tanks since they have to wear the leather and aren't sacrificing mitigation, while pally/warriors are? or is mitigation the concern? or are we all going to breeze through gnomer and be incredibly bored, fast.. >.>

Rogues need hit and expertise. Tanks need hit and threat.

expterise is an amazing tank stat for tps

;/

I said threat and hit. Hit would be the first priority,

so its really not that necessary at all to go max hit, and isnt thatttt bad?

or we dont need to bother to farm 2 extra heirlooms for hit at least?

wtf im confused, it sounds like ur saying threat as in a stat even tho theres no threat stat

FUCKING CONFUSED

uhh. TPS = All DPS and Procs, anything that generates threat lawl.

This is more of a PvE thread so if an officer of the site could move it there it would be much appreciated. And IAT, have you come of with the all the spreadsheets you were talking about?

Ok i know this is not the PvE discussion site but if I wanted to tank a bunch of mobs and generate threat with ret aura and fiery blaze chant among other things like several taunt abilities available to pallies then what weapon should I put Fiery blaze on. I am thinking that spell power might be good for judgment damage and the pvp mace also has a small amount of mana regen which a pally would probably need. The new BoA mace also looks good.

Pallies might be decent tanks but most of the threat would have to be generated by reactive damage ret aura, shield spike, fiery blaze. 90% increase threat for holy spells.

Maybe battleworn thrashblade (chance on hit grants extra attack) might be good. Humans also have the expertise with swords and maces

But Fiery Blaze is worse than Fiery Weapon unless you're a druid or can hit multiple targets at once, with melee.

And I fixed the gun/bracers in that build. My mistake.

I don't understand why fieryblaze is bad for a pally pulling multiple mobs. Pallies will generate a lot of threat from ret aura not from hitting mobs but from mobs hitting them. I also don't think ret aura can miss since it is reactive. What weapon would be best for a 19 paladin tank?

Also on the druid build correct me if i'm wrong but druids don't need defense do they?

I'm not sure about the druid question but ret aura does not proc Fiery Blaze, only autoattacks will, and Fiery gives not only more DPS, but it will give you more threat since it does more damage. Druids are the only ones that really benefit from Fiery Blaze at 19.
