Head: Jewelcrafting crowns with one 2nd stat proc, upgrade to 215 + socket / 168+ items with upgrade procs

Neck: Heart of Azeroth

Shoulders: 168+ items with upgrade procs

Cloak: 168+ items with upgrade procs / BFA quest rewards

Chest: 168+ items with upgrade procs

Wrist: Auction House Mythic BoE / 168+ items with upgrade procs / BFA quest rewards

Gloves: Auction House Mythic BoE / 168+ items with upgrade procs / BFA quest rewards

Belt: 168+ items with upgrade procs / BFA quest rewards

Legs: Auction House Mythic BoE / 168+ items with upgrade procs / BFA quest rewards

Rings: Jewelcrafting 233 / Crushtacean once per day / 168+ items with upgrade procs / BFA quest rewards

Trinkets: 168+ items with upgrade procs / BFA quest rewards

Weapons: BFA quest rewards

Trinkets are the easiest to farm but a lot of rng involved. 400 Nethershards for 168+ and 650 Veiled Argunite for 192+. Legion world quests for all types of items. You can use the nethershards and veiled for other slots too but i would focus on trinkets first.
233 crafted items for a couple of slots are a good start but they can't have a socket or +speed.
 
BFA only: War Supply Chest and Secret Supply Chest. Any slot, you will want to have BFA flying for the War Supply Chest farming.

See the comments on the wowhead link, click whatever zone the faction assault is in, look at the map pins. 3 spawn points per zone, they do not change. They usually spawn right at start of the assault, and then roughly at one hour intervals after. They spawn for both factions at once, you do not need to fight over them. They stay up for 10-15 minutes. Can drop any slot, can be socketed and/or have tertiary stats (namely, speed for you guys).

https://www.wowhead.com/object=290135/war-supply-chest - These drop from the planes that fly overhead in all zones. See the links directly above the wowhead map to see the drop locations per zone. Each zone has 2 plane paths, and the chests always drop in the same locations. Make a macro /tar war supply , spam it when you hear the plane (or see it on the map) while flying along the plane path. Once you target the drop (it's targetable at huge distances while in the air), mark it with a skull to see it easier if you're in a low visibility area (like Nazmir, where the planes tend to drop them at low height, in the canopy). Do note that upon landing they become untargetable. Once landed, they will require an 8s channel, and if successful they turn into a clickable object for your faction only. At that point they stay up for 1min only. Planes seems to come roughly every hour, so these are a lot more spammable. Same loot as the Secret Supply Chest. I strongly recommend you farm your faction's 3 zones instead of the opposing faction, in the interest of actually being able to loot the chest.

These are what I use to optimise my wpvp twink, who was unlucky enough to not get any decent socketed trinkets (at some point you end up having done all quests and all rares). I wouldn't use them for any other slots (Antorus is much better due to higher ilvl), but for the purposes of speed twinking I think they're good in giving you a semi-spammable chance to roll a decent item.

There was a tread half of a year ago with Google doc in first post that contains all BFA rares and what gear they drop for each armor type.

Hey guys, sorry if I'm derailing at all, I'm such a stalker for looking through peoples twinks in their sigs and I'm seeing a lot of stuff I like in here!! But I gotta know what you guys are doing to get such high ilvl necks :O Are you just parked at the mission table spamming every AP mission that comes up? I can't face islands for 100 per time lol, and I can't imagine you guys doing that grind on multiple twinks :O

I only have the 1 twink. I don't do any IEs. My azerite came from doing all quests/rares in all zones, doing 1 random dungeon daily for the slight extra azerite reward, and doing mission table azerite missions (remember you can do those from the phone app if you're not logged in). I also do some timewalking when it's up but not too much.

With azerite knowledge constantly reducing the amount of azerite needed per level you'll be capped at 1000 azerite per neck level until the late 40s I think - so it will be pretty fast to get to at least neck lvl 50.

My neck is almost lvl 60, and at worst I'm 1-2 levels behind all but the most dedicated people. I can live with that.

ie, all the zone storyline quest and every side quest that gives an az reward. rare elite kills. the box that drops from the sky. timewalking and the app mentioned before. in my own experience after doing the storyline quests for both factions my neck was around level 50.

I...I don't really know what to say about that. I've done the majority of story line quests (at least enough to get all 300 azerite pieces), including the 3 dungeon quests that give 600 each, killed all the rares on my island (ie not the 120 ones) and i wouldn't even be at neck level 20, including having done probably 10-15 islands. That just doesn't seem right to me :S I've now been stood at the mission table refreshing that daily, which seems the fastest and least effort way

this is my Prot pally twink "a little project" im working on at the moment

Made this toon around October last year. I did all the quests / rares in the zones.
Doing a few Island expeditions a day + the daily LFD dungeon for the 100 AP and this is where it brought me, my neck is almost level 80.
It is going very slow last couple of levels though, right now i need around 8k+ AP to get to 80 i think.

Btw its realy fun pulling an entire island expedition map in one go :p
