FTP Hunter Soloing Dungeon Challenge Advice

Hello everyone, I'm returning to WoW after a long time. I want to create a ftp hunter and solo as many dungeons as I can. Kind of a fun completionist challenge. I've read through most of the baseline guide. But I think it's geared heavily towards pvp. I was wondering what gearing/enchants/other profession related stuff might help me out the best to survive. Mainly, stuff that will allow me to keep my pet alive, if that stuff even exists.

My plan is that if my pet is taking too much damage, I can activate its sprint and try to make it run away and recover with mend pet ticks before going back to fight. So it's kind of alternating between doing damage and tactically retreating to recover. Anyways, that's just a rough idea; could miserably fail. But I wanted to see what gearing/profession related stuff would be suited for tackling dungeons the best. Also, I'm curious if speed enchants for me also make my pet move faster.

Ferocity pet (with the leech passive) + mend pet = poggers. Even on bosses with heavy blow attacks (Ramstein e.g.) they can still last pretty long (esp if you hit exhilaration at the right time, which insta heals pet for 100% along with hunter for 30%), and if you have room to kite, you can usually revive pet, disengage w/posthaste and MD aggro back to the pet before boss can damage you too much if you shoot at max range.

I can give some general advice, but most of the enchants and tinkers for PVP should work well in PVE as well. Would recommend BM with Spirit Beast pet for Spirit Mend and https://www.wowhead.com/spell=388035/fortitude-of-the-bear . Many bosses will ignore pet taunt, so you can either Feign Death or Misdirect to put pet on top of the aggro table. These are some niche items that might help:

Biggest helps would either be Healing Injector belt tinker or the Cobalt Frag Bomb belt tinker.

You can also get a few Legion buffs by re-visiting the event through the Historian NPC, or make a Priest/Druid alt for some extra buffs.

Use this macro for self-heals:
Code:
#showtooltip
/cast [help] [@player] Spirit Mend

Also, you can Revive Pet while under Aspect of the Turtle, so that is helpful as well.

Yo @Dragpz is Spirit Mend better than Leech? I used to prefer Spirit Mend but it's like it has 30sec cd while leech has 100% uptime so idk...

Depends on the situation I guess, but I think Mend is better because some bosses have 1-2 abilites that do alot of damage and you just need to heal through them. Essentially, its another "Oh Crap!" button on a 30 second CD and it will pretty much heal you to full with the BM talent. If you are just straight up clearing trash mobs, maaybe the leech is better. I don't think I was able to outheal any bosses damage with leech alone, that's why I recommend Spirit Beasts. But yeah, whatever works or feels better for you should be fine. I found Mend to be useful in tough fights

Good point. i will defo test out Mend vs Ramstein's bitchslap attack next time I swing by strat.

Thx for the advice guys. Question: when do pet's special abilities become available? Specifically, I got a cletfhoof and I don't see blood of the rhino. I got a spirit beast and I don't see their heal. I also got a stone hound and while I do see their rez, I don't see their defense/healing ability when reaching low health. I'm currently level 15, and petopia said these should become available at lvl 14, so I'm a little worried.
