Feral druid at 70?

I'm leveling my druid to do level 70 raiding and pvp, and was wondering if there are any perspectives for cat dps/pvp druids.

I really don't like the absence of Savage Roar and Swipe (Cat) for PvE so I doubt it will end up being my choice.

However, I'm not sure how pvp at 70 turns out. I am pretty comfortable shredding allies in HFP and I'd like to keep doing that. But what should I do with talents? If I go for Omen of Clarity I will lose Berserk and Primal Gore. I assume the answer is to skip omen?



Assuming this answer, how close is http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#0ZxGMsfbdbeR0cuAkbh to being the spec of choice?

I could take some points off nurturing instinct and/or KotJ for naturalist, or perhaps predatory instincts. Any comments from those that tried out feral pvp at 70?

I played feral a short time in 3.0 pach in bc and its pretty nice, but I still prefer playing a pure dps class like mage or rogue over feral. Berserk and primal gore over omen of clarity, btw.

i only played feral during bc...talent trees have changed too much for me to really help.

-naturalist: 10% damage. id keep

-for pve omen might not be bad depending on how much haste you end up with. OoC scales with haste since it only proc's off white hits now. for pvp, id pass since pvp is all about burst and yellow bursty attacks dont proc OoC anyways.

-dont really know how pve cat will be at 70 with all the changes...and without SR. swipe is only for trash so thats not a big deal...but SR is a huge % of damage. might wanna consider tanking or being boomkin/tree for pve, shrug. could do either for pvp too (chicken/tree that is)



id assume dpsing is the same @ 80 -SR. keep up mangle (unless arms warrior, manglebot in raid), rake, 5cp rip. since you dont have SR to worry about you will be using FB instead. alternate between rip and FB, but dont let rip fall off....generate cp with shred spam, unless rip or mangle needs to get reapplied. prolly does pretty well dps wise even w/o SR.

also ArP is going to be one of your main stats like @ 80. have enough crit to be around 55% unbuffed. then stack arp on gear/gems. berserking or mongoose on the weapon.

I mentioned swipe because it really hurts my ego having absolutely no aoe for those trash pulls while the rest of their group gets their insane dps on recount, this haunts me (and the few other cats I see) as I level up, so even if I somehow end up dps in my randoms (I check all 3 boxes) then I find myself shifting into bear for 4+ mob pulls (or putting on healing gear and doing hurricane). I absolutely hated this on my rogue (although blade flurry kinda helps), and I'd hate to go through this again.

And I imagined lack of SR would be a huge blow to ferals compared to other classes, most of which don't miss anything big for not being 80 (tricks/fok are so insignificant...)

Also err, what do you mean have enough crit to get 55 unbuffed? That's about how much crit you would have with best gear all gemmed for agi at 70... Perhaps you meant buffed?



Which would make me either a bear or a tree for pve (boomkin gtfo).

i still think cat could be strong dps with SR, although that is a huge hit that most classes dont have to deal with - like you mention. but there is good feral gear out there and if that's what you wanna do...go for it!

trash dps is so irrelevant. i know your epeen might take a small blow for overall recount damage/dps and trash...but you should still be good for bosses as a kitty.



moonkin would be nice since the wotlk buffs, and caster dps is fun.



tanking or healing would be ok and you'd obviously be in demand then.



as any spec you really cant go wrong. altho bears arent as strong imo since the armor nerf. that was one of the main things we had goin for us in bc....super high armor and hp. you could conceivably still do fine, but warriors and pallys really shine.



finally...haha my main spec is moonkin (~5.7k gs) XD but i have offsets (all 5.1k gs+)for bear, cat, and tree. and i actually just respec'd to bear last night for instant random ques. i really like feral dps but it sucks having to wait in 10-15min dps ques when i can just go bear/tree and instantly start getting badges.



edit: i would not recommend bear swiping as dps in a raid since it generates extra threat on top of normal damage!! dead dps = no dps, i think your pride can suffer a lil lol. sadly druids are seemingly always the class that gets shafted the most by blizzard balancing talents around end game, be it in pvp or pve, but you can manage.

As I edited, what do you mean 55 crit unbuffed? That's about as much as you get in best gear/all agi gems at 70, with only LotP as buffs.



Besides the point of this post was more of pvp, because that's the main reason of me making a 70.



Regarding bears, they got neat stuff like PotP, will that still not be good enough? Besides, without crushing blows tanking at 70 seems to be a joke anyway, and the main reason it doesn't take much effort to clear bt/sunwell these days (in addition to wotlk gems/enchants).
