F2P even viable?

Hi,
I have an 11 Warrior on my main account on my Bnet and thought id make another one on a secondary account. But as a trail/f2p. Then I realized that I cant use the Warband bank. I cant use the mail system. I cant use auctions.

How do you people who play on F2P accounts manage? Or do you just accept being limited to just the gear available without the ability to purchase lifesteal enchant, sockets for neck and rings and gems off AH?

Unless you very specifically want the challenge/process of a building a toon with F2P restrictions (which many of us enjoy) then you're better off building a toon on a paid account and then xferring it to an unpaid account

They do it hardmode basically, farming profs, the enchant. The gear. The gold, etc
but at lvl 10/11 you cant even do the dungeons where enchants like lifesteal drop, let alone get the reagents needed. So you are out of luck with that one (amongst also JC sockets etc)?

Oh, I had no clue you could transfer chars from one account on your Bnet to another

Pure F2P is certainly harder to do, but has become easier to do than in the past.

Most people run vet accounts though, so occasionally the have sub time (or free weekends) to transfer enchants and other things to their low levels.

Things were way easier when everyone had access to the warband bank, but it's still semi-useful since you can use crafting reagents from it; so if you do have access to it the best thing to do is to throw a bunch of crafting materials that you might need for the future.

There was a lot of cool information. Thank you. Though, what is a "vet account" and what do you mean by "free weekends" and so on?

A vet account is when you let your subscription run out. You lose access to mail, guild bank, warband bank, and your characters above level 20.

Any level 1-20 characters you still have full access to. So the idea is to build your level 10-20 twinks up while you have your subscription running, and then let the subscription run out.

Blizzard has a history of giving out a free weekend to veteran accounts once a year (typically a month before the next expansion to try and get people to renew their lapsed subscriptions). So people can take the few days of free game time to sell-off any stocked up vendor trash / stocked up regents to up their gold count to buy things they otherwise couldn't, mail new enchantments to their twinks, unlock features that require a high level character, and probably a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting. I know the next time free game time shows up I'll be stocking up the warband bank with a bunch of crafting regents which will make profession swapping (when I have to do it) a lot easier.
