changing the time from 11am to 1pm wasnt bad, but it just jumped to 5pm. christ on a cracker....this is the only company in the world that gets away with going over expected time lines on a weekly basis. how they get away with sucking balls like this is beyond me. i think all ~12mil people should just flood them with calls bitching them out every time it happens.

activision took this to the next level of faggotry when they stopped reimbursing people with game time when servers were especially jacked up.

A major patch will never ever ever get out on time. It is funny though how after all these years they still don't 'expect' the delays they will inevitably incur. Do they seriously think this time would be any different.

Eh, I'd rather have that REAL estimate over an update every hour saying, "WE NEED MORE TIME, EXTENDED EXTENDED EXTENDED DELAY!"

I believe the issue is that they genuinely think they'll make it at the estimated time. They fix the problem, 10 new ones occurs. Rinse repeat every hour. I've experienced this when doing things that I thought would be done @ 9 and then it ended up being done 6 hours later due to complication on complication on complication.

I don't know, I could just be naive... one would expect a firm like Blizzard to at least hit it within the 6 hour limit, they are known to step beyond that boundary quite often, true.

Not 100% sure, but I think it might be a Green Amanitas,

because I do know that there are red amaniti... and they look the same but red instead of green. >.>

this.

@linde

that is a possibility....but after SIX years of ptr testing, then applying the ptr files to live, how do you still constantly f up. dont you learn some intricacies of how to update all the necessary files w/o screwing something else. a freak bug or something every once in a while would be understandable, but it's every major patch, and even minor ones more often than not. i really wish they'd figure out how to properly release patches!

Learn somthing new everyday. o.o;

I bet Blizzard chuckles everytime they extend maintainence. They know 12 million or so players will be continue to drool, stare at their screen, and log back in to check every hour to see if they are done. Bravo Blizzard.

Also, this is probably the most important patch to ever hit WoW. The complete change of Azeroth forever. I would not doubt it if they extended their maintainence until tomorrow.

As someone that's been doing database rollouts for a long time, i'm actually surprised at some of the windows they are able to accomplish when you figure all of the changes that they try to bring in. There's no way you test all variables on a prod server environment in your test lab prior to pushing a release of this size out, especially around performance.

Their telephone queue is probably equaly as bad as with ingame tickets (atleast in EU). Thats why.

wait, what? what about the weeks of ptr testing to make sure all the kinks are worked out?

and on top of the extended times, when the servers do come up more often than not they are unstable and require local resets or rolling restarts.

if you were working for a company and had a deadline, a generous one (3am to 11am), you would be expected to have the work done. if you needed another 2 hours people would be pissed, but you might not get fired. but then when you still need another 4 hours...heads would roll. and they'll obviously extend it more if they havent gotten everything to work. and this is just normal practice for them. at least estimate times better. after 6 years you should know there will be issues and schedule time for them. if they would have said servers will be down from 3am to 5pm, people would be annoyed but at least they would have them functional when people were expecting it.
