European WoW

Does anyone know if it is possible for me, an American, to buy a eu-wow key and play WoW with Europeans in the 49 bracket since it seems the 49 twinks in Europe seem to have more activity than the US 49s. And if it is possible what exactly is the time difference. I remember when I went to London it was either 7 or 8 hours ahead of my time.

EU servers follows paris time, thats GMT +1. London is GMT (0). Soo its either 8 or 9 hours ahead.

Thank you for the time information. So I would be -8 hours than. But do you know if I would be able to buy a eu-wow key code and be able to play on eu-servers here in the US?

Yes.

:):):):)

Oh and, Eastern Standard Time is GMT - 4, or 5 hours behind Server Time.

Thank you both for the info.

Edit: Another quick question. I have checked out the eu-forums and found that there are certain realms that are for English, German, French, Spanish, or Russian speakers and was wondering if I go to the English speaking realms which battlegroups would they exactly be in and would I have other languages pop up when I play like spell names in German or French?

Thanks again.

Language depend on your wow installation, so if you use the US client you'll keep your english spellnames/items etc. The german, french and spanish realms just represent the languages spoken by other players in trade chat for example. Everyone playing in the blackout battlegroup are located on english realms (EU-Draenor). Once you buy a european account, you can still use your US WoW client, you simply have to edit your realmlist.wtf file. For you it says:

Code:
set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com

set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com

set realmlistbn ""

set portal us

and you have to change it to:

Code:
set realmlist eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com

set patchlist eu.version.worldofwarcraft.com

set realmlistbn ""

set portal eu

That way you'll connect to the European WoW servers.

gettin a european acct would be fun for me even tho us 49s are revived again. time difference wouldnt be too bad either since it seems you guys play late. when ever you were doing live streams it was like the afternoon/early evening for me

We start playing at 7.30pm GMT at the moment. This is 2.30pm EST - so the times might not suit US-players all that well, sadly enough ):

fine for me since im in college and have morning classes. but for people in school 7-3 or working a 9-5 job prolly wouldnt work out too well

Think we could get a sticky on this where other people can see how to change their WoW from US-servers to EU-servers?

would actually be helpfull, guess there are plenty of ppl who want to go from EU to US and other way round

sticky, or a thread handling this topic pls :)
