Hi everyone, you may know me for my other thread where I initially started digging into this. I'm here today to detail the method to obtain your own lv10 Evoker twink. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we've got them. Now watch this drive.
I may get a bit wordy in this guide, but that's mainly for method preservation in case it gets fixed and someone is trying new techniques to get the same result. That being said, please read my guide thoroughly.Method Requirements:
- A Grandfathered Evoker with exp off that hasn't done the intro quests. This can be obtained by means of an old Evoker before the level squish, or a new Evoker with my oob method.
can be yours or a friend. for details on how to get a fresh one, tl;dr oob out of the starting zone (alt+f4 before your evoker gets teleported back) so your evoker looks like it doesn't have a zone, then make a ticket to get teleported to stormwind.
- A second account (can be F2P/trial) with the Target Evoker to become the twink.
- [OPTIONALLY:] If you want to exit the starting zone with less than 20% exp at level 10, you will need a second GF'd Evoker that has progressed past the 4th storyline.
For the purposes of this guide, I will be using my own GFvoker and a trial account. Use logical reasoning to translate the key components of the guide when using other setups.
To briefly summarize the goal of the method, you're phasing a Grandfathered Evoker with its exp locked into the starting zone, then completing the starting zone with the Target Evoker while having the exp debuff.
1. The Setup
- The Target Evoker
The target Evoker intended to become the lv11 twink can be F2P/trial, and can be account transferred after the process is done. The account does not need any setup, you just park it where it is and don't complete anything.
- The GF Evoker
While testing is limited, the GF Evoker cannot have completed the 4th chapter quest in the intro campaign. This is the point where your Evoker enters the Froststone Vault storyline and a different phase that cannot be seen by the fresh Evoker. Additionally, I believe the GF Evoker also needs DF Adventure Mode enabled (finish the campaign anywhere on your account).
The Evoker needs to have been teleported out of the starting zone and into Stormwind to toggle its exp off, this will show the storyline as though it's currently progressing Wrath of the Storm-Eater, which is why Gamemasters cannot teleport you back into the starting phase. This is fine and intended for this method.
If you're wondering whether your GF Evoker is in this incorrect phase, run the following macro:
/run print(C_QuestLog.IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(65084))
2. The Method
The crux of the problem with my initial testing into this issue in my previous thread is that there wasn't any way to get back into the starting zone phase. Even if you hadn't completed any of the intro quests, your character counts as currently progressing the Wrath of the Storm-Eater storyline and is in a seperate phase. This is now solved.
Make your way to Valdrakken and pick up the Dragonflight campaign quest starting with A Message Most Dire. Your goal is to progress up until the quest Feels Like the First Time.
Previously tested with other Evokers, it's now been discovered that a Grandfathered Evoker that hasn't completed the intro quests correctly gets put into the right phase, and can be seen by fresh Evokers.
The following steps are from the perspective of the Grandfathered Evoker.
Invite your Target Evoker and accept the quest, complete the objective until you get teleported to the starting zone. Then simply follow the steps in this video:
After reviewing the video, couple things to note:
- Being in ghost form, you are able to phase through the blockades like barriers and doors and can be seen in most quest phases by the Target Evoker.
- Sometimes, the game will randomly teleport you to Stormwind or back to the questgiver in Thaldraszus. This seems to happen most often when hanging around too long in the area just outside the War Creche where all the key NPC's keep converging. Try to stay away from this area on your GFvoker.
- Do not delete the Feels Like the First Time quest. This is the only thing keeping you in the correct starting zone phase. If you end up getting bricked and need to get out of the zone however, delete the quest and it will teleport you back to Thaldraszus in a couple seconds.
- There are some rare spawns exclusive to the intro phase that drop some jewelry. However, these cannot get sockets added from Jeweler Settings so are mostly novelty.
- Some quests (like the Froststone Vault) are phased independently. The exp gain from these quests can be solved with your Target Evoker by flying out of the phased area, getting the exp debuff while soaring, then speedrunning it back to the NPC and completing the quest before the exp debuff wears off.
- With Froststone Vault in particular, do not kill or tag any of the mobs. Simply heal the NPC's for credit in healer spec, move out of the area and phase back in when you stop getting quest credit for healing them to reset the healing credit tags.
- The last chapter in this storyline (Wrath of the Storm-Eater) is also in a seperate phase, and cannot be cheesed because it also puts you into a different phase than the starting zone phase when outside of the quest area. It is possible to get a second GF Evoker up to this quest progress like mentioned previously to nerf the exp gain on these quests as well, but there are only three quests left until you get teleported to Stormwind, which amounts up to 4200 experience gained. This will put you from ~20% to ~70% on level 10 in Stormwind.
3. Closing Points
That concludes my guide. Hope this guide is written detailed enough to be able to replicate the process for most people.
If anything is unclear, please comment and I will edit the guide to include said clarifications.
Something to note as well; if there's enough people making a sudden wave of tickets to get their own GFvoker, the issue might get flagged by Blizzard and they will stop providing the service. As a pre-emptive measure, please first ask around if someone has a GFvoker to help you out. It's not a long process, so surely someone can volunteer. Blizzard doesn't care about glitches like this, but they do care about unwanted traffic on their support infrastructures.
Special thanks to Kunjunction whom convinced me to look back into this (pointed out the GF quest phasing), Topofdetails for moral support and the niche DH speedrun community (hi Wuck Falls).
Happy Voking.
P.S. I am able to help you on EU to get you your Evoker twink with my GFvoker, but to avoid a large influx of requests, please have something to trade. For example, I am in need of leather 515 BoEs. If so, please reach out to me on Discord at my handle: milksnout or find me in the Twinkcraft or xpoff Discord servers.
