are the items available at 225 eng skill not usable? Havent seen anyone with engineering in the bracket

in this bracket max is 150 or 165 if gnome.

I hear some of the really leet, skilled players like curley used engineering in premades for the bombs...dunno currently though...

Engineering is still worthwhile (even if not a gnome), more so now that CC is so important to actually kill anything. Gnomes get Mortars, instant bombs that disorientate the target, non-engineers get Big Bronze Bombs, which are pretty much the same as the mortar, but have a 1 second cast time. Both are an extra CC ability on a 1 min cd, which beats out the crit from skinning, or stamina from mining by a longshot imo - the only downside really is having to keep restocking on bombs, and the mats can be a bit expensive.

Engineering is pretty good provided you actually use the bombs. They are actually a bit pricy to make a lot of them, and if you're popping them on CD (similar to let's say, Lifeblood) it will be a lot of hassle to continuously make them even if you have the gold.
