Downloading LoL as we speak

Good luck with it. :D Have fun!

You'll like it. Its very cat and mouse and it does have a learning curve, but there's so many playstyles and champions to play that it's still never gotten old for me.

No time sink. You can pick it up and play it whenever you want. It's everything I liked in twinking and it's free.

And yes its a lot like DotA the mod from Warcraft III.

It is one of a few stand-alone DotA clones. So I guess it is kind of like Warcraft, through a few degrees of separation. You don't control armies though, just 1 hero (there are lots to choose from) with some abilities.

To compare it to something you know.

But, LoL isn't hard at all.

Also, HoN has better systems & is faster paced, but costs $30. On the plus side both are still better than DotA

Levels 1-12 may not be hard because essentially you are on newbie island (playing against people that don't implement game strategy at all) once you get into the late 20s or ranked play at level 30 let us know if you still think the same way. So many people find the game incredibly hard because you can't just go in and hack and slash thinking you will win a fight. Not that type of game.

I take it you havn't played HoN

I originally played HoN when it was free on Beta. I just finished playing a game of LoL, and I can honestly say that LoL got nothing on HoN except for the fact that it's free. HoN is just an overall better gaming experience.

Just my opinion anyway :)

Thought about it, even signed up for the beta, read some reviews and considered whether to pay for a game that was similiar to something I could play for free. After a number of different gaming review sites ranked LoL over Hon in overall category, decided to save my money.

Been having a great time playing LoL, after 500+ games still enjoying it.

All the review's I've seen for HoN downrate it because of community.

HoN works on PSR (like the old WoW arena ratings, starting at 1500 & moving up or down) you pay once & EVERYTHING is available, there has been a new hero every single month now since it hit retail, they rework heros that are horrible & make them viable (aka the most recent Rampage buff), and if you don't want to buy it it's becoming bigger & bigger in the e-sports sceen (HONCAST.COM - Heroes of Newerth Shoutcasting and Video on Demand - Honcast Invitational Semi-Finals - LOAD vs SK game 1).

Only thing LoL has over HoN is team matchmaking (which S2 is working on after they get that map editor up and running), and the community in LoL isn't made of so many asshats (as HoNs is).
