My roommate and I both played twinks on Reckoning in the 39 bracket. However, since that seems to be dead and I don't have the cash to transfer toons, we've settled on just playing in the 29 bracket.



Myself: I already have a a mute rogue (69) ret pally (29), a disc priest, an enhancement shaman, an easymode spec hunter, and a fire mage all at 39. I've been playing the game a while, keybind, and have access to BoAs.



Roommate: He has a 39 ret pally that he really enjoys dpsing and FCing with and a 29 lock that's nearly done. He loves the pally but doesn't like the lock that much because he feels squishy. He's pretty new to the game, is just starting to keybind, and won't have access to BoAs.



Question: Any recommendations for either of us? I'm totally unfamiliar with class balancing in this bracket, except that hunters are OP of course. (Neither of us are particularly interested in playing hunter, btw.) We'll be doing mainly non-premade BGs and some not-too-serious arenas. I'm thinking of playing a healer to compliment his face melting.

Warrior/ Hpally is a pretty good combo :)



Rogue/Druid

Rogue/Priest

Rogue/Mage

These are all very good combos if played correctly



Rettadin/Druid could be good.
 
My roommate had considered a warrior, but was worried about the lack of intercept (don't they pick it up at 30?) Anyway, I suppose a holy pally would help counter his kiteability some. I could pretty easily move from ret to holy.



I'm surprised at your recommendations for rogue. I hardly ever see them in BGs so I kind of assumed they were weak in the bracket. Given my aforementioned lack of knowledge, was I just mistaken or is this the case?

Rogues have never been weak in the 29s and for a long time ruled as the top class.



This bracket is pretty balanced in terms of class power.



IMO play whatever class you have fun with and roll with that.



As for combos ...



Mage/Mage, Paly

Lock/Priest, Druid

Rogue/Rogue, Druid

Warrior/Paly, Priest

as for non-hunter combos, dps/healer of course is your best bet, i'd go with paladin/warrior, priest/rogue, priest/warlock, paladin/warlock of course there are others but those seem like they are good combos

no, i don't remember 8/10 people being rogues, but if you got a SS go for it. what i remember is hunters being the most overpowered class all the time.



and your second statement...are you really serious? 29s are balanced currently classwise? cmon :p do you even play 29s?
 
I never said currently ;) speaking from expierence, over the years 29 has remained relatively decent in power, No sadly my computer has been fried for the past 4 months or so.



I swear these people are useless, took in to be fixed like 5 different times.



Bah that reminds me ... years worth of SS are gone ... thanks for reminding me, doh lol

Thank you for all the replies. I think the plan is to grab holy gear for my pally, but keep him as ret most of the time. My roommate is thinking druid. I've seen the potential for druid FCing but I don't see many druid healers around in the BGs. Officially, his main complaint is being too squishy and not having enough escape mechanisms. I'm unfamiliar with which abilities druids get at which levels, so was wondering if he would fall prey to the same problem again.

Although since you don't seem to read half of whats written im not even going to bother with the rest of your post, as I have explained else where.



I have no personal grudge againest you, if your posts get deleted, they break the CoC.



Also im a guy btw, this character happens to be a female but most of my toons are male.



The Isa Beast comment does spark my interest, as far as getting rolled, thats laughable, but I did enjoy the fun rivalry I had with 3 or 4 of them.
 
To bring this thread back on the road...a couple of other threads here on twinkinfo discuss class balance for the 29 bracket, and consensus is pretty much that a good player of any class can make a significant difference, so things are pretty balanced, with the extreme exception of hunters.



Somewhere around here is a "naked hunter" thread that got the most thanks I've ever seen from one post on this site, where a skilled hunter posted screen shots of entering a BG with only a bow and a trinket, and proceeded to destroy the BG. Say what you will about the specifics of that situation, no other class could pull that off in the 29 bracket.



That said, I still had a ton of fun on my resto shaman for the 29 bracket.

One thing I'll say is that if there's just two of you, I'd pick classes that are highly self sufficient. It really sucks when you have two classes that rely very heavily on eachother like holy paladin / warrior and you're in a situation where you have to split up. And imo one of you needs to be good dps. Field is wide open otherwise, having two dedicated buddies that know eachother's playstyle through and through can make non-hunter combos as good or better.



Biggest thing honestly I miss when playing on a 2 man team without a hunter is being able to track. That's vital information that no one ever gives as well as I can see it on my minimap and it wins games.
