Cataclysm Class Preview: Priest

Grabco did one for shaman so i thought i'd do something similar for preist

Cataclysm Class Preview: Priest

Both disc and holy priests get meditation, yum, meaning spirit becomes a much tastier talent.

They will get a new healing spell. As far as i can work out the current "Heal" spell will be renamed and a more efficient spammable spell will be introduced called Heal.

disc priests get slightly more powerful shields, whereas holy priests get an extra HoT.

Shadow priests get a cool new feature which makes them feel more shadowy

HoTs and DoTs now will scale with haste and crit without having to spec or glyph for it.

Inner Fire no longer has charges

You will no longer be able to HoT or DoT clip. If you apply a renew or SW: Pain before it has finished it will mere add duration rather than refresh it. I am unsure how this will work for the passive talent bonus from the holy tree.

Looks quite tasty to me.

The way that the Shadow Orbs information was worded suggests that you can at least get the Unique Mastery Bonuses pre-50, though the question of how the system will treat equal-talented Hybrids or how low a level before you gain such benefits, this could be an absolutely huge thing for twinking... not to mention how when and how much of the damage/healing Mastery Bonuses and the Stat improving Bonuses will be available to lower levels. Still it will be worth watching closely.

Mastery bonuses are likely to be available as soon as you are able to spend your points and the actual amount of benefit you gain will be scaled either to your level or to how many points you have in the tree (you only gain mastery for the tree with the most points in it, so for the sake of example a shadow priest with 10 points in disc might get slightly more mastery than a shadow priest with 12 points in disc, or they may get the same amount based on their level). The most important question for the twinking community is what mastery will hybrid specs get, i.e. 0/5/5 since there is no tree with a majority amount of points in it.

Blizz carefully avoided the question in this post World of Warcraft - English (NA) Forums -> Mastery System Preview The answer seems unclear for builds with equal numbers of points in different trees. Although for unequal hybrid specs the blue does state that the tree with the most points gets the mastery bonus.
