Marijuana Legalization Could End Up On California Ballot -- Politics Daily

Proponents of an initiative that would legalize marijuana in California say they have collected enough signatures to put it onto the 2010 ballot.

A minimum 433,971 valid signatures were required to move the measure forward, and advocates say they've gathered more than 680,000, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

About time, if this does happen. Weed should be regulated like alcohol and that's the end of it. Be a certain age to smoke/purchase it, don't drive or operate heavy machinery during its use, and can only get it from licensed sources.

I thought you said cannibalism. Only reason I clicked to read the topic.

This idea was proposed a while back to solve some debt issues. Im not a pothead and I dont like the idea of other people doing pot, but Im not about to tell people what they can or cant do if its not going to change anything. Its illegal atm and a lot of people smoke marijuana anyway, but atm it cant be taxed, run through the FDA, kept out of minors' hands, etc.

Legalization would lead to government/corporate grow ops, meaning me and other people in my area would have to pay twice as much for bud...

nothnx
