Are premades losing its edge?

I want to build on what Dorygoon said because I thought he brought up some great ideas, but I want to take that a step further and look at the bigger picture of premades and guilds in general. I think the approach to wargames and premades have significantly changed over the years and they aren't as momentous as they once were in the past.

To me weekly wargames are pretty well one night stands. You fuck the bitch and then move onto another the next night. Sure you might find one more hotter and enjoyable than the next but there's always something missing. With the old guild v guild premades you had conversations with the bitch, you got to understand her more, and when that fuck came around you basically pre-edjuclated everywhere. Best off all the video was recorded, put up with sexy music and everyone could enjoy it and talk about it for years.

I have to ask, where is the guild rivalry? The days when a team took weeks to prepare for one premade. The endless discussion of every little detail, the constant shit talking. The buildup to one premade created an atmosphere where everyone was interested. The hype and anticipation was on another level. Now guild v guild premades are only in preparations for the Twink cup, which far enough is competitive, but only happens once a year. When the Twink Cup finishes the bracket will most likely go inactive as it did last year. Ask me this. Without the Twink Cup, would we even have activity? To me the only reason this bracket is active is because people are splashing money at a competition. Seems pretty sad at the end of the day.

Ohhhh the competitiveness is still there, we can't "shit" talk or MOD's will be throwing out infractions left right and centre.

Don't you worry, if I see someone shit talking me or my guild. I will definitely talk shit back in WOW. TI is a whole different kettle of fish.

There is no guild rivalries anymore because there is 0 narrative.. 0 characters. The forums, like battleground forums and pwndepot used to allow for immense trash talk that would create drama, and drama raises the stakes, therefore making it more "meaningful" when the guild actually plays one game.

There is also the fact that people are straight up bitches.. if someone talks shit to another, they are immediately like "enjoy your ddos" or "boycotting your guild from now on" ... 0 narrative, 0 characters.

Also, if you REALLY think about it, the bracket is amazing from what it was before. Sure, do I miss shit talking GUP for 6 months to finally play them, win, and then dodge/troll them for the rest of my time in Waw Tawent? Yep. But that is a good memory. I think it that the bracket could be even better with added narrative, but alas we all want to be best friends/worry about how many viewers we have on our streams etc. Lets keep the good memories as memories and not focus too much on re living them - because no one misses premading only 3 times a year.

who gives a shit about guild rivalries, that's what leads to people dodging for 6 months straight and only one game played when they finally do play

whether things will stay the same after the cup only time will tell, but when people so are afraid to lose because it will bruise their ego the bracket is 100x worse

I think you hit on something here with premades lacking the luster they use to. Easy fix - Start doing AB and EotS as well, there is uncharted 19s meta there.

The bracket is absolutely captivated by the Twinkcup, to many players it is all that matters. I think that is unfortunate.

There are more weekly premades happening than ever before. The premades are now live streamed with spectators. There is even a premade tournament being hosted with a massive prize pool. If you would have told me in Vanilla, BC, Wrath, or Cata that the bracket would evolve to this one day - I would have told you in your dreams.

The community have just changed. Many people have chars scattered across multiple guilds, and people are friends, that have each other on btag. And most of the premades that are happening are real ID premades. The reason that the premades of today may seem 'casual' is because they happen all the time, throughout every week. It doesn't take 2 months to set up a premade, they happen all the time.

True. We recently saw this with most guilds and players dodging partys over.
